    EHS Officer 1

    Purpose of the Job:

    Support the Business Unit to pro-actively co-ordinate the health, safety & environment topics to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with legal and other requirements to which Gibela subscribes.

    Organisational Reporting

    Reports to the Head of EHS

    External: Customer, Suppliers, Regulatory Bodies, Auditors

    Internal: Manufacturing Team, PME Team, Logistic Team, Maintenance Team, EHS Team

    Performance Measurements

    • Achievement of EHS KPIs at business level
    • Demonstrate to Gibela and customer that we are compliant with contractual, legislative, safety and internal procedural requirements.
    • Comply with corporate and customer requirements and programs.

    Tasks & Responsibilities:

    • Provide advice, information and instruction on EHS issues.
    • Monitor / assess hazardous and unsafe situations; and assist in developing control measures to ensure personnel safety.
    • Assist in the application and development of EHS procedures
    • Assist in managing risks and hazards in the workshops.
    • Report and facilitate investigation of incidents, injuries and hazards.
    • Review the data and analyze injury and incident reports (open action item list)
    • Assist in developing injury and incident prevention strategies for the business.
    • Monitor compliance with EHS policy and procedures and legal requirements.
    • Audit EHS compliance regarding organizational and legal EHS requirements.
    • Help promote EHS awareness.
    • Carry out EHS Officer inspections (including construction activities).
    • Compile toolbox talks and disseminate EHS information.
    • Organize, assign and brief EHS representatives, fire fighters and First aiders and ensure their duties are carried out.
    • Assist in the acquisition of EHS equipment e.g. emergency preparedness equipment, signage, etc.
    • Participate in relevant organizational forums as necessary, e.g. EHS Committee meetings, cross-functional team meetings, etc. 

    Requirements

    • National Diploma or BTech in Occupational Health and Safety/Environmental with SAMTRAC.
    • Engineering qualification would be advantageous
    • Recognized health and safety qualification.
    • 5 years of experience in Safety Industry.

    Supplier Quality Serial Engineer

    PURPOSE OF THE JOB

    Apply and deploy Serial Supplier Quality Assurance policy in collaboration with Procurement.

    • Responsible for Non-Conformity Report management and Supplier performance for a precise scope of suppliers/projects, after the product validation, the First Article Inspection (FAI) + 3 deliveries.
    • Perform inspections for medium and high parts
    • Manage Quality performance of assigned Suppliers
    • Problem Solving
    • Supplier Development
    • Implementation of quality gates, hold points, Q-Wall at suppliers premises
    • Supplier Performance review
    • Lead QRQC for suppliers and Animations

    Non- Conformities Management:

    • Responsible for Non-Conformity day-to day management, insuring reactivity to inform supplier of Non-Conformity Report (NCR), to replace defective parts and to implement securization.
    • Animate Non-Conformities Report treatment by setting-up relevant actions plan to reach Non-Conformity Report (NCR) target.
    • Ensure timeous instruction to Procurement for Invoicing of Cost Of Non-Quality (CONQ S1) to the suppliers.
    • Ensure management of Supplier’s waiver requests for assigned scope and Suppliers
    • NCR Process Governance

    Supplier management review ( Yellow, red and black status)

    Containment actions:

    • Organize the retrofit/containment to be performed by the supplier
    • Maintain the containments records accordingly and share the information with relevant department and stakeholders.

    Solving issues & Continuous Improvement:

    • Secure in a timely manner strong and complete supplier containment actions plan to secure the Manufacturing line
    • Challenge our suppliers to enforce relevant corrective and preventive action plan, challenge reactivity.
    • Check the effectiveness of the corrective and preventive action plan of the Supplier, ask for evidences, challenge them and perform supplier’s visit. Ensure control plan sustainability (regular follow-up on main suppliers).
    • Set up and manage Supplier improvement roadmap for non-performing Suppliers according to Supplier Quality escalation process (Green / Yellow / Red status)
    • Implementation of quality mechanism to prevent defect outflow from suppliers ie. Q-Wall , Batch Inspections etc.
    • Organize reviews with suppliers and visit suppliers’ premises as necessary.

    Inspection of low-critical parts:

    • Ensure performance of inspection for low critical parts (parts non-included Supplier Part List)
    • Check the effectiveness of the corrective and preventive action plan of the supplier (ask for evidences, challenge them, and perform supplier’s visit do supplier’ visit). Ensure control plan sustainability (regular follow-up on main suppliers).
    • For ‘trusted’ suppliers: to take part of the Return Of experience (REX) analysis.

    MAIN REQUIRED COMPETENCES

    Educational Requirements

    Mandatory:

    • Degree in Quality or Engineering
    • Familiar with supplier qualifications standards (ISO, ASME, IRIS, Local Standards, etc.)
    • Fluent in English

    Desirable:

    • Lead external auditor certification
    • Lean Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt)

    Experience

    Mandatory:

    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Quality discipline in similar environment
    • Working experience in a Production, manufacturing, engineering environment
    • Hands on supplier quality experience in manufacturing, processes, production and engineering principles
    • Ability to see in colour
    • Ability to drive with own transport and valid drivers license

    Desirable:

    • Experience managing supplier relationships is a plus
    • Experience using SAP or similar computer applications
    • Railway knowledge will be an advantage
