    Maintenance Technician (Braamfontein Depot)

    Job Purpose

    It is to provide technical support to the customer during commercial service, during preventive and corrective maintenance before and after warranty.

    Key Responsibilities 

    • Support/Interface with Engineering Department for the analysis of all data coming from the field for the purposes of resolution of technical problem on the on trains.
    • Report on all the anomalies found in commercial service.
    • Interface with the customer and the technical fleet management to deal with all emergencies possible arising during the commercial service.
    • Support the customer in corrective and preventive maintenance by:
    • Coaching and training the customer on executing maintenance tasks, following procedures delivered by Gibela Engineering team upon request.
    • Respond to all requests addressed by the customer – by call or directly at technical support desk.
    • Train preparation, all levels of diagnostic on trains/CFM or use of on-board computerized equipment/working manuals, troubleshooting guide and train system knowledge.

     

    • Troubleshoot and repair the GIBELA Rolling Stock, in line with specified Quality procedures. This will require manual work and sometimes working on powered up trains in a safe and controlled manner.
    • Carry out such work in accordance with strict Health & Safety procedures as laid down by legislation and the Company Health & Safety policies.
    • Carry out train preparation, all levels of diagnostic and work arising involving the use of onboard computerized equipment/working manuals, troubleshooting guides and train system knowledge.
    • Undertake other duties as specified by the Team Leader and Depot Manager.
    • Adhere to Company procedures especially in relation to Quality and Health & Safety.
    • Train new members of the team.
    • Support the Reliability team and the Field Engineer to understand the root cause of complex failures.

    Minimum Requirements 

    • National Diploma (S4) qualification in either Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
    • Industrial or Technical background with 2 to 3 years of experience, preferably in a rail related environment.
    • MS Office literate (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • Decisive. Obtains and uses necessary information to make decisions.
    • Ability to Coach others (occasionally share skills/information with others).
    • Self-Motivated. Is inspired by the job at hand and inspires others to achieve agreed goals.
    • Logical and organized.
    • Autonomous.

    Special Requirements

    • The job involves frequent mobility, with work in several depots, and at times on the train corridors.
    • To carry out technical support and maintenance on 24/7 shift & on-call basis (day, night, weekends).

    Key User ERP (SAP) - Cape Town Depot

    Job Purpose

    Ensure data consistency and reliability for all Service (TSSSA) ERP master data in relation to Supply Chain, Sourcing, Operations and Quality through audits.

    Key Responsibilities

    ERP Data quality & material master validation

    • Ensure the creation and maintenance of Material Master Data for the Service and validate data in alignment with Supply chain flows.
    • Analyze all ERP data inconsistency messages coming from Services various departments: Operations and Quality ensuring compliance to Internal Financial rules.
    • Analyze ERP error messages specific to master and transactional data quality and implement corrective actions.
    • Be the local referent for any support need related to ERP specific usage.
    • Create training documentation for local use.
    • Coordinate and prepare training material.
    • Train new entrants & users on their specific area of competence.

     

    To support the business

    • Manage generation of business reports on demand (from SAP database).
    • Implement visual dashboard to report business performance.
    • Manage deployment of new solutions.

    As key-user for service

    • Identified and mobilize users and expert required to execute project activities.
    • Understand the process of the core solution.
    • Contribute to the various solution specifications.
    • Define cleansing rules and prepare data migration and set-up.
    • Coordinate and prepare training material.
    • Ensure that operational procedure are up-dated according to the new process implementation.
    • Ensure support level one after GO-Live.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Degree in the Industrial Engineering or Information Systems.
    • 5 years’ experience in either of these areas – Sourcing & Supply Chain, Operations, SES and/or Quality position Operations, SES or in Quality.
    • ERP: SAP (MM, PM, QM) experience – desired.
    • Good knowledge of Quality and Operations environment processes
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Active team player, deadline driven, process driven.

    Warehouse Supervisor -Pretoria

    Job Purpose

    • Oversee Logistics operators’ team (Gibela employees or external provider), take care of the execution, physically and in the information system, of the counts & movements of materials for a dedicated warehouse area. Align physical flow & system flow.

    Key Responsibilities 

    • Ensure that employees operate in an environment that complies with company Health, Safety and Environmental policies
    • Ensure adherence to all Environmental, Health & Safety regulations within the warehouse and associated areas
    • Ensure the material availability, integrity & delivery on time to all feeding regional depots and repair center workshop line.
    • Manage the physical material flows in area of responsibility (reception, put away, kitting, mirror area, shipping and transfers) to always keep physical and system flows aligned
    • Work closely with Warehouse Key User to manage the stock in the ERP system according to the core model and to train Logistics operators
    • Monitor & challenge the performance of his area activity through Key Performance Indicators
    • Actively contribute to the Continuous Improvement activities & APSYS roadmap and continually improve the warehouse organization & processes.
    • Ensure implementation of all standard processes & golden rules in compliance with Logistic Handbook
    • Participate to the warehouse layout and optimize the storage space and ensure good housekeeping and storage of materials including preservation of items with special storage requirements
    • Perform Repairable stock reconciliations, by ensuring that a broken part is received for every good part issued
    • Manage team skills matrix and managing compliance of mobile equipment’s and lifting equipment, including Fork Lift Trucks
    • Assist with the identification and disposal of surplus and obsolete material
    • Respect any special stock management and storage regulations (chemicals, battery, …)
    • Take care of the planning and execution of transportation & logistics flows with regional depots to fulfill Sites Supply Chain requirements 
    • Analyse the Root Causes of any logistic issues and agree with the internal stakeholders and the Management of the 3PL on corrective actions. Follow up on these actions and participate in their realization

    Minimum Requirements

    • National Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management. Logistics or Industrial Engineering
    • Previous technical knowledge and experience
    • 3 years warehouse supervision experience
    • SAP ERP System knowledge
    • Experience in warehouse equipment’s utilisation
    • Advance Excel skills will be an advantage

    Senior Welding Engineer - Nigel

    Purpose of the job

    • To coordinate the industrial control of the Welding Special Processes (SP) during tender phase, product development, industrialization, manufacturing and warranty.
    • To contribute to technology and activity transfers.

    Activities by step of the industrial process: 

    Tender:

    • Contribute to tender phase, especially in product design and industrialization to take into account industrial constraints and requirements in order to optimize costs and minimize risks.

    Concurrent Engineering:

    • Contributes during specification and design phases to technical solution decisions associated to special processes.
    • Build the SP REX and interact with product engineering to redirect the design if necessary.

    Industrialization:

    • Manage industrial risk through Process FMEA and associated improvement action plan.
    • Define requirements and rules for associated tooling necessary to start production.
    • Qualify the product/process pair as well as industrial means to be put in place in line with the design.
    • Support sourcing and SQD teams in the suppliers’ qualification and in quality follow up for suppliers concerned by SP. Contribute to development of local suppliers.
    • Manage evolution of quality control process dedicated to Welding SP.
    • Ensure deployment and validation of new processes in line with project planning
    • Issue relevant documents in the Quality System.
    • Manages welding engineers & technicians that are under his/her responsibility.
    • Perform Transfer of Technology on SP: documentation, process and means validation, training.

    Transmission:

    • Train the workers and EPU managers to execute Welding SP.
    • Ensure continuous training and permanent qualification of the workers to Welding SP.
    • Train support functions to business rules linked to Welding SP (Engineering, PME, Sourcing, Supply Chain, Quality)

    Execution / Serial manufacturing:

    • Guarantees internal control and good application of process rules in line with customers’ requirements.
    • Thus performs internal and external audits.
    • Ensure day to day monitoring of Welding SP business rules and solve issues concerning Welding.
    • In case of non-conformity or incident, investigate root causes, finds and implement repair solutions.
    • Demonstrate QCD and EHS improvement linked to Welding SP through efficient action plans. Measure performance linked with site industrial objectives and through APSYS audit for instance.
    • Support Sourcing and Supplier Quality teams during quality crisis.

    Transverse

    • Participate to meetings and working groups of the Welding SP network.
    • Propose improvement ideas and evolution of the business rules of their domain.

    Responsibilities

    • In case of major Welding SP quality crisis (major technical risk, safety or financial), the expert must provide to the project manager, factually, a clear problem analysis (root causes, associated risks) and the options to exit the crisis, to enable him taking serenely position.
    • He/She has the duty to control his/her external communication (written and oral) as it engages the responsibility
    • of AT towards third parties.

    Educational Requirements

    • BSc/BEng/BTech in Mechanical/Electrical/Metallurgy/Materials
    • MEng in Welding is an added advantage
    • International Welding Engineer (IWE) accreditation

    Desired Knowledge / Experience

    • 5 years’ experience in Welding manufacturing environment
    • Very good knowledge of welding and NDT standards such as EN 15085, EN 15614, ISO 9712, EN 9606,
    • AWS, ASME
    • Knowledge and experience in Alstom Transport Special Process management is an added advantage
    • Proven experiance in managing/leading technical teams
