    Marketing & Communications Manager (South Africa)

    The Job

    • As the Marketing and Communication manager at Tiko, you’ll work together with the Marketing team to ensure that our message is delivered in a relevant, meaningful, and effective way. You’ll do this, by: 
    • Carrying out our platform marketing strategy; bringing insights about our users, their needs and motivations, and their on and offline behaviour.
    • Translating our strategy and marketing plans into an action plan will drive demand for our membership and services - this will include developing and executing content, brand materials, social media engagement, and continuous flow messages. 
    • Bringing in field operations insights from the markets to continuously improve how we drive demand and engage our users. 
    • Keeping abreast of the latest marketing trends and movements in the market, and finding ways to boost the platform's visibility. 
    • Identifying strategic branding opportunities or partnerships which will put Tiko at the forefront of our target audience’s mind. 

    Requirements

    • Relevant university qualification in Marketing, Business Management, or similar
    • Proven experience in brand marketing with a track record of managing and growing a brand, including at least 3 years as an Assistant Brand Manager or 1-2 years as a Brand Manager
    • Demonstrated ability in setting strategic marketing directions and executing plans independently
    • Strong experience in leading agency relationships, with the capability to articulate campaign results and insights
    • You are currently based in Johannesburg, South Africa (mandatory).

    Data Engineering Team Lead

    The Job

    • The Data Engineering Team Lead role encompasses leading the data team and utilizing software tools to transform and analyze data, as well as interpreting historical data. A significant aspect of the role is developing and maintaining features in our data warehouse and other platforms to ensure data availability throughout the organization.

    Responsibilities:

    • Coordinate the work of the data team and actively participate in cross-team projects.
    • Ensure data is readily available from multiple sources.
    • Analyze data and identify trends using developed and maintained tools.
    • Contribute to donor reporting efforts.

    Requirements:

    • 5+ years of experience working with complex data sets and expertise in data and tools.
    • At least 3 year of experience in leading a data engineering team is required.
    • Extensive software development experience, including expertise in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
    • Demonstrated proficiency in handling large volumes of data efficiently.
    • Experience with technologies such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, or Apache Kafka.
    • Familiarity with data modeling, ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, and data warehousing concepts.
    • Advanced working knowledge of SQL and experience with relational databases. 
    • Machine learning knowledge or experience would be a bonus.

    Java Engineering Team Lead

    The Job

    • Our Java Engineering Team Lead is responsible for leading and developing a team of talented software engineers and creating and maintaining the software that allows our platform to function. Other responsibilities include:
    • Lead and develop the individuals in your team.
    • The maintenance and development of new features on our software platform.
    • Our team works in an agile way and you will be part of the rituals and practices.
    • Coordination of the work that the software engineering team need to do.
    • Applying software engineering principles to the design, development, maintenance, testing, and evaluation of our software.
    • Ensuring that the software you develop is secure and safe when it comes to data protection.
    • You document your work and make sure that your documentation is clear and understandable for future use by others.

    Requirements:  

    • 8 years of experience in software development 
    • 3 years of experience managing a team of backend developers
    • Experience within Microservices and AWS  
    • You have extensive experience working with the Spring framework, as well as various other Java backend tools and frameworks
    • Experience or knowledge of Salesforce CRM would be a plus
    • You don’t want to just write code, you want to build scalable systems with quality
    • You are based in Portugal/South Africa/Kenya
    • You have excellent English skills

    Machine Learning Engineer

    The Job

    • As a Machine Learning Engineer, you'll design and develop Machine Learning algorithms that help us predict and detect significant data patterns into the Tiko Platform.

    Responsibilities:

    • You'll develop machine learning algorithms in the applicable systems, applying the best-use principles of machine learning to the design, development, maintenance, testing, and evaluation of the software.
    • Our team works in an agile way, and you'll be part of the rituals and practices.
    • You'll document your work and ensure that your documentation is clear and understandable for future use by others.
    • You'll make sure the software you develop is secure and safe with regards to information security and personal data.
    • We expect you to actively participate in meetings and projects and coordinate with your team members. We also expect you to continue to develop yourself and keep abreast of new developments.
    • You'll run, get involved with, and help out colleagues on other projects as needed.

    Requirements

    • 5+ years of professional experience in Information Technology
    • 3+ years of experience designing, developing and deploying Machine Learning models in a production environment
    • Strong background in mathematics and statistics
    • Exposure to developing NLP solutions over opensource platforms
    • Exposure to common machine learning, data, math, and visualization libraries
    • Exposure to different coding environments (local, notebooks, containers) and software engineering workflows (testing, code management/Git)
    • Proficiency in Python
    • Understanding of relational databases such as SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL
    • Familiarity with a cloud environment (AWS) and containerised environment (Kubernetes, Docker) and CI/CD (ArgoCD, AWS Code Pipelines)

    Field Operations Lead

    The Job

    • This is an essential role for Tiko, as the Field Operations Lead is responsible for ensuring the successful and efficient implementation of the field operations in Johannesburg. You ensure that all program activities are implemented according to donor agreements and strategy. You’ll also be responsible to:
    • Managing all programme day-to-day activities and ensuring that they align with Tiko's strategic plans. 
    • Carry out routine needs assessments and gaps and make proposals to improve service delivery and demand generation expansion to the target groups.
    • Working closely with the Country Director on giving operational insight to all strategies and projects, and team performance. 
    • Use data to analyze field operations and come up with innovative ways to resolve any inefficiencies at the field level. 
    • You offer support in identifying opportunities for strategic collaborations that will expand our current footprint and develop a robust service provider and demand generation  network that includes a clear referral pathway.
    • Monitor capacity building (formal/ informal with supportive supervision) to mobilizers including TOT and training on needs and gaps areas.
    • Facilitate the coordination of stakeholders; including implementing partners, at the field level as needed through an effective coordination mechanism such working group and assist in improving RH service delivery;
    • Strengthen the relationship with the relevant stakeholders and government agencies by following through with actions to ensure an enabling environment for the implementation of activities in close collaboration with the partnerships officer.

    Requirements

    • A minimum of 3 years of experience as a team lead in field operations for programs across South Africa within a global NGO.
    • Experience in Mental Health, HIV, Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH) programming, whether in clinical or program settings.
    • Ability to manage stakeholders.
    • Ability to build capacity within a team with a focus on achieving KPIs.
    • Strong communication skills and good report-writing ability.
    • Based in Johannesburg, South Africa.
