    Corporate Social Investment (CSI) Specialist Financial Management and Monitoring

    Job Description

    • To evaluate and present applications for funding that contribute towards the Corporate Social Investment (CSI) socio development goals. This would include:performing the financial due diligence function and ensuring risk identification and mitigation; and monitoring the utilization of disbursed funds and outcomes of all successful applications

    Qualification and Experience

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Minimum qualification: BCom/Financial Management Degree  

    KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

    • At least 5 – 8 years related experience 
    • Experience in interpretation of financial statements 
    • Experience in financial reporting
    • Experience in monitoring implementation of project
    • CSI specific knowledge would be advantageous 

    Roles and Responsibilities

    Financial / Shareholder Returns

    • Ensure financial soundness of all CSI applications
    • Monitor the utilization of funds disbursed to all successful applicants
    • Evaluate annual financial statements of all applications 

    Internal / Operational Processes

    • Evaluating applications for financial soundness through due diligence investigations
    • Designing and negotiating the financial and other relationships with the applicants
    • Risk identification and mitigation
    • Participate in due diligence teams
    • Ensuring that the applications are aligned with the strategic objectives of Corporate Affairs and will contribute to meeting departmental (CSI) goals
    • Prepare budget proposals for inclusion in submissions for approval by the Corporate Affairs Committee
    • Ensuring accurate client data management
    • Liaise with financial management department on all CSI disbursement 

     Customer Focus & Stakeholder Management

    • Maintain meaningful relationships with enquirers and applicants in conjunction with different support functions in the IDC.
    • To effectively interact with different departments (CRAD), Legal, FM) in order to fulfil the process requirements related to any specific application.
    • To manage and enhance the levels of service and communication to ensure the provision of client service excellence.
    • Liaise, communicate and promote the CSI internally and externally

    Senior Manager: Business Development

    Job Description

    • Co-ordinate sectoral opportunities and the pursuit of industry plans across value chains.
    • Effective co-ordination of business development efforts in general and specifically co-ordination and prioritisation of efforts on the continent.
    • Drive the continuous implementation and development of the Business Development capability within IDC ensuring alignment with responsible investment policy and IDC strategy and mandate.
    • Provide leadership for IDC’s cohort of Business Development Managers.
    • The Business Development Managers will report directly to the respective Head of the business unit with dotted line to the Business Development Coordinator.
    • Proactively source and develop bankable transactions/deals and projects within the IDC priority value chains, segments and regions together with the Business Development Managers, Sector Heads, Project Development Leads, Regional Managers and Industry Planners.
    • Develop pipeline, together with the Business Development Managers, Sector Heads, Project Development Leads, Regional Managers and Industry Planners to increase economic impact from existing and new clients to achieve industry development goals and the IDC’s development and sustainability outcomes.
    • Align and implement various business development strategies and identify new markets for IDC to enter to achieve strategic objectives
    • Provide inputs into IDC sectoral/value chain strategies and product development.

    Qualification and Experience

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Minimum qualification: relevant Honours degree
    • Postgraduate Business Degree or MBA preferred

    KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

    • Minimum 10 - 12 years’ experience in a corporate environment with previous focus in a Business Development / Coverage and deal sourcing / project origination role.
    • At least 5 years’ experience at a leadership level and management of teams.
    • Experience in leading, initiating and developing new business strategies and opportunities to create a pipeline of development impact projects/deals ensuring deal flow and bankability.
    • Strong ability to develop networks and relations with local and global clients, to identify and source viable projects/investments.
    • Cross sectoral deal making and Coverage experience will be preferred.
    • Demonstrated experience in working with senior stakeholders.
    • Proficiency in client relationship management.
    • Knowledge of clients, how to identify their needs and potential solutions, translating this into actionable plans for the IDC and its clients.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Monitor and optimise the profit and loss of the SBU
    • Maximise shareholder value in terms of industry development and development impact.
    • Development and management of the budget.
    • Ensure financial soundness of all decisions and in particular financial credibility and astuteness in transactions led by the team so as to drive IDC’s financial sustainability

    • Establish, build and maintain sound professional relationships with both internal and external stakeholders and business development managers, through regular engagement and communication.
    • Participation (in support to the Heads of the Business Units) in various HR processes e.g. talent management, transformation, succession planning and headcount planning to drive an effective people strategy for Business Development.
    • Adhere to reporting requirements by preparing and submitting applicable reports on the status of business development as required.

    Tax Specialist

    Qualification and Experience

    Qualifications:

    •  LLB or CA (SA)
    •  Higher Diploma or Masters in taxation is desirable
    •  Admission as an Attorney is essential 

    Knowledge and Experience:

    • A minimum of 8 years’ post-article experience in the financial services industry mainly on tax advisory
    • 2-3 years working experience in the banking and finance/DFI (restructuring, turnaround & business rescue) space is essential 

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Act as technical consultant/specialist to IDC Department Heads on equity and loan deal structuring and other related tax matters
    • Provide proactive input into the company’s financing group tax planning initiatives and evaluating the impact of new financing and projects on the IDC financing group
    • Formulate tax strategy proposals and draft discussion papers for consideration by the IDC Committees focused on optimal usage of the IDC group’s tax base
    • Act as technical consultant on cross-border equity and loan deal structuring specifically with regards to investments in Africa
    • Liaise with investigating staff and discuss tax implications of non-standard financing agreements
    • Prepare briefs and liaise with external tax experts with regards to obtaining of tax legal opinions
    • Advise on Transfer pricing issues for the IDC and its subsidiaries
    • Review changes in taxation legislation and court interpretations and report on implications
    • Review submissions to be presented to Committees and Board for tax efficiency
    • Advise IDC Departments and clients to make effective use of DTI and other tax incentives
    • Assist the IDC with restructuring of its investments
    • Assist in negotiations where complex tax structures exist to avoid risk and ensure tax efficiency
    • Liaison with the external auditors for year-end procedures
