Technician: Graphic Design Programme (REF: FA06) at Durban University of Technology

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design
• IT Networking Qualification/Certification/s
• At least three years’ experience in Graphic Design industry
• At least 2 years’ experience in IT servicing department

Additional Requirements:

• Experience of working in a laboratory related environment preferably within a university
• Adobe CC Certified
• Microsoft Office Certified

Summary of Duties:
The successful candidate will be expected to:

• Experience in Adobe CC Design Software applications, working with and teaching
• Experience in working with, installing and maintaining of Apple hardware and software

Network Engineering:

• Analytics and Troubleshooting
• Firewalls and Security
• Networking
• Hardware and Infrastructure (Apple)
• DNS
• Software automation
• Experience in emerging technologies for fourth industrial revolution (4IR)
• Ensure security of equipment in laboratories
• Ensure basic maintenance of electronic equipment
• Assist in tutoring
• Operate high-speed and large-format printers
• Booking of computer facilities
• Provide practical technical training to students
• Maintain laboratory usage, devices and equipment
• Engage in administration duties and identify equipment that need to be sent for repairs
• Supply Chain Management: Obtain quotations and liaise with the finance and procurement departments
• Oversee practice-based learning in joint assignments across the faculty
• Undertake duties as assigned by the HOD/Programme Coordinator and staff in charge of laboratories.
