    Social Media Specialist - Cape Town Durban and Pretoria

    • The Publishing unit of the Human Sciences Research Council requires a freelance social media specialist for its scholarly publications and its database. In addition to the responsibilities and requirements set out below, there may be a project-specific brief.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • A bachelor's degree in marketing, journalism, communications, business or English.
    • Proven experience as a social media specialist in the industry.
    • Include at least two contactable references.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create engaging content and communicate effectively with the audience.
    • Understanding of SEO principles and best practices.
    • In your CV, include a short list of relevant social media campaigns and examples of how you managed community growth

    • Proven experience as a social media manager, with a focus on Facebook and Twitter.
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.

    Duties & Responsibilities    

    • Develop and execute social media strategies to increase HSRC Press and Best Red audience and engagement on social media.
    • Develop a social media presence for AISA Press.
    • Optimise post titles, descriptions, and tags to improve searchability and maximise organic growth.
    • Schedule content releases that align with our marketing objectives including book launch events, book reviews in journal articles or mainstream media.
    • Manage community engagement, respond to comments and messages, and foster relationships with the audience.
    • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices for a scholarly book audience in social media.
