Senior Specialist Spectrum at Vodafone Global Enterprise

• We are on the lookout for a dynamic and visionary Spectrum Snr. Specialist to develop Spectrum Strategies and analyse the efficient use of Mobile, Transmission and Satellite spectrum across the entire Vodacom and Vodafone footprint.

Your responsibilities will include

• Developing and testing Spectrum Strategies for Mobile, Transmission and Satellite spectrum using forecast requirements, specifying opportunities for optimization of existing assets through re-farming, including defining a roadmap of new spectrum acquisition opportunities.
• Developing capabilities to perform Spectrum modelling to determine the long term spectrum forecasting of each market’s spectrum requirements according to different scenarios.
• Support technical regulatory initiatives that aim to support regulators in developing regulations that promote the efficient use of spectrum including evaluating the impact of proposals by regulators and developing counter proposals.
• To co-ordinate & execute spectrum acquisition/partnerships projects and special investigations including testing pioneering technologies to support the introduction of viable new technologies, for example access through non-terrestrial networks.

The ideal candidate for this role willl have

• 4-year Degree in Electronic Engineering or a relevant field of study (minimum)
• M.Eng/ M.Sc Eng in Electrical/Electronic Engineering will be advantageous but not necessary
• 5-8 years of work experience in the telecoms industry specific to Spectrum, Technical Regulation of Spectrum, Access Technologies and in strategic roles related to these areas.
• Knowledge & experience in the Access Networks for Mobile, Microwave, and/or Satellite including in depth knowledge on supporting technologies in Transmission (Fiber, Router, Synchronisation and switching technologies), international backhaul, core network and relevant vendors.
• Knowledge and experience in performance management and planning tools in Mobile, Microwave and Satellite deployments for Telecommunications spanning access technologies such as GSM, UMTS, LTE and NR Technologies and systems
• Knowledge and experience in data engineering, data analytics, machine learning or artificial intelligence will be advantageous.
• Analytical thinker and solution-oriented planning & implementation
• Mathematical and Network modelling knowledge (in Excel and MATLAB using SQL)
