    Senior Qualitative UX Researcher

    Job Description

    • Design @ Old Mutual is currently going through a scaling and growth phase in order to more substantially contribute to our Vision of being “Our Customers’ 1st Choice” by championing “Mutually Positive futures”.
    • The Design team currently consists of Service Designers, UX Designers, UI Designers collaborating closely with UX Writers. New to this multidisciplinary team, are Qualitative and Quantitative researchers, Design System Lead as well as the Design Operations Manager. You will be the first specialising Qualitative UX Researcher within the Old Mutual Design team.
    • As a Qualitative UX Researcher your goal is to enable the Design Team to effectively leverage Qualitative research and design evaluation to inform and evaluate UX & Service designs. You will take ownership of Qualitative data gathering methods and insights to ensure that they are consistent in quality and approach.
    • Although your focus will be on using qualitative methods, the ideal candidate is someone who understands and has experience blending qualitative insights with learnings from quantitative research and product experimentation.

    As the Senior Qualitative UX Researcher you will lead the Design Team's efforts in:

    • Qualitative data gathering & analysis,
    • Working with Design Ops to establish the Research Ops
    • Design evaluation and simulations and the respective methods and standards
    • Experience outcomes measurement.
    • Personalisation on digital Platforms and comms
    • Driving Digital growth and Sales

    Collaborate with:

    • Data and analytics teams
    • Design Chapter Leads, Designers & Quantitative Researcher
    • Product Owners
    • E-commerce and growth teams
    • Customer experience

    Responsibility

    • Lead UX Research at Old Mutual
    • The custodianship of Qualitative Research methods and standards
    • Conduct discovery sessions and customer/employee interviews.
    • Design and execute end-to-end customer primary research using a wide variety of qualitative methods, and interpret analysis through the lens of business impact, experience outcomes
    • Uphold a rigorous research standards
    • Adapt methods creatively to the research question at hand using a range of methods, weave together qualitative and quantitative insights for data-informed understanding
    • Measure outcomes and connect research outputs to strategic goals.
    • Mentor and collaborate closely with UX & UI Designers

    Technical Expertise

    A deep understanding of quantitative research methods:

    • Data gathering
    • Experience conducting usability Testing,
    • task analysis,
    • heuristic evaluations,
    • Journey & ecosystem mapping, implementation, and measurement,
    • personas, or requirements analysis

    Proficiency in the following toolset:

    • Figma
    • Miro
    • User testing and research platform(s)

    E-Commerce and Journey optimization

    Business Acumen

    • Experience working in Digital
    • Experience working in an agile/scrum development process.
    • Thought leadership and caching in your area of
    • Continuous Experimentation 

    Management Effectiveness

    • Develops peers and possibly direct reports through mentoring and coaching.
    • Drives operational excellence through area of supervision.
    • Leads service delivery.
    • Accountability for managerial work, including selection, performance management and talent management.
    • Contributes towards operational capability enhancement (people, process and technology) for digital experience design - facilitates feedback loop between execution and capability
    • Manages supplier relationships in delivery.
    • Needs to report on and hold accountability for the performance of the Quantitative Research chapter
