Senior Operations Engineer at Rand Water

Minimum Requirements

• A Mechanical Engineering Degree (NQF 7) or a relevant Engineering Degree
• 5 years engineering experience with an exposure to other disciplines
• Life cycle engineering and costing experience
• Project Management experience will be an advantage
• Managerial experience will be an advantage
• GCC registration will be an advantage
• Professional registration with ECSA will be an advantage
• Computer literacy (MS Office Suite)
• Code 8 drivers licence

Primary Duties

• Provide sound technical reports regarding plants and equipments to maintenance management for decision making purposes
• Control and monitor contractors performing repair activities
• Initiate investigations into unreliable plants and equipments
• Initiate and perform plant and equipment condition monitoring
• Apply knowledge and abilities deemed best to correct technical faults and problems cost effectively at all sites
• Research and advice maintenance management on industry best practices to be implemented for plant optimization
• Implement quality systems for repairs
• Optimize current plant maintenances process by standardizing best philosophies
• Ensure projects are designed, implemented and generated in line with the OSH Act

Knowledge

• Knowledge of hydraulic systems
• Knowledge of pumps & valves
• Condition monitoring of critical assets
• Mechanical engineering related to water purification and distribution
• Knowledge in budgeting & cost control
• Knowledge of legislation & regulations
• Knowledge of ISO and OHSAS standards
