Your key responsibilities

The Finance & GL Business Engineer will take a leading role in the Financial Services competency, focusing on the Finance & GL aspects of Banking, Lending and Payments. You will be responsible for both sales and delivery of related projects, includes sales and pre-sales activities of opportunity identification, pre-sales presentation and proposal writing and submission. You will be responsible for the quality of client interaction including thought leadership and guidance on industry best practice, while also playing a role in the delivery of the required solution through detailed interactions with the assigned implementation team.

• To qualify for the role, you must have
• Minimum Honours degree in Accounting, Economics, Financial Management, IT, Computer Science, Engineering or related technology field
• Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in the finance and GL domain, through a financial institution or an industry software vendor company.
• Proven industry relevant track record of in-depth knowledge of finance and GL domain, associated standards, practices and regulations
• Client facing service experience required. Engagement across stakeholders and ability to run information gathering and sharing sessions
• Experience with various project management disciplines preferred
• Experience with Financials and General ledger programs at various levels (new implementations, transformations, replacements)
• Innovative thinker
• A working knowledge of the financial and general ledger domains including:
• Integration with Banking, Lending and Payments processes
• General ledger best practices
• Financial accounting best practices
• Subledgers
• Thin vs. Thick ledgers
• Business Writing Skills (business cases, proposals)
• Presentation and Facilitation Skills
• System Development Life Cycle (Waterfall, Agile)
• Quality Assurance and Risk Management
• Innovative thinker

Ideally, you’ll also have

• Experience with financial services domain software platforms and vendors providing finance and general ledger capabilities
• Experience implementing and maintaining finance and GL applications, processes and standards
• Understanding of finance and general ledger best practices and pitfalls
• Exposure to financial transformation programs involving the modernisation of finance processes, applications and general ledger processing
• Global experience with financial services domain clients, relevant software vendors and/or consultancy capabilities related to Finance & General ledger topics
• Membership within relevant regulatory bodies (e.g. CIMA, SAIPA, SAICA)
• Certification in banking domain software technology platform(s)
• Certification in agile principles
• Certification in cloud and related technologies
• Certification in design thinking principles
