    Residence Facilities Officer x2 AD08

    Brief Description        
    Responsibilities:

    •     Set out performance Outputs and measurements for each direct report (Handymen team)
    •     Management of your team as per the University’s HR policies and processes.
    •     Formulate a general scope of works for any minor to medium size refurbishment projects.
    •     Monitor budgets for maintenance work and manage external contractors and report on any variations.
    •     Liaising with Stakeholders regarding the execution of maintenance and / or other work assigned to the facilities management office.
    •     Supervise the facilities office in a manner that will enable effective and efficient customer focused service.
    •     Ensure that the areas that have been maintained or repaired by any of the maintenance Teams provide a safe and fit for purpose environment for use by the University community.
    •     Ensure effective supervision of service providers as per agreed scope of work.

    Minimum Requirements:

    •     National Diploma or equivalent in-Built Environment (or in any other related Facilities Management Studies)-essential
    •     Construction management Diploma and or Project Management Certificate will be an advantage

    Required Years of Work-Related Experience:

    •     3-5 years in Facilities management / building maintenance field dealing with general building technical issues including managing of minor to medium size refurbishment projects
    •     2 -3 years management experience of Handymen team and or any of the building trades. (i.e. building fabrics etc.)

     
    Desirable Requirements:

    •     Valid Driver’s license.

    Key Competencies:

    •     High level of Computer Literacy
    •     Ability to measure and draw as-built drawings in any of the computer draughting packages
    •     Ability to put together a general scope of works for minor refurbishment projects
    •     Good leadership skills
    •     Building Audits Experience
    •     Building Maintenance Experience
    •     Management of outsourced service providers
    •     Asset Management
    •     Manage risk and good understanding of maintenance strategies.

    Compliance/Statutory Requirement:

    •     OHS Act
    •     Building Regulations
    •     Any other building related legislation
