    Global Linux Systems Engineer

    Role and responsibilities:

    • Installation, configuration, maintenance and support of infrastructure on-premises and in the cloud, including virtualization.
    • Offering expertise to resolve technical incidents and systems.
    • Creating robust business case proposals for the improvement of systems from a reliability, stability and efficiency point of view.

    Required qualifications:

    Payroll Tax Specialist

    As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible to:

    • Sound knowledge of employee and employer tax liability.
    • Reconcile and file payroll tax deductions accurately and timeously as per statutory requirements.  
    • Montioring and overseeing the incorporation of legislative and employee changes into the SAP HRP system.
    • Review payroll third-party payments within the service level agreements. 
    • Responsible for the reconciliation and manual submission process of IRP5/IT3A. 
    • Supevise payroll finance team and review work performed, including mentoring and coaching.

    Process Engineer

    As a Process Engineer, you will be responsible for:

    • Processing development and optimisation.
    • Managing projects from inception to implementation including commissioning of new equipment.
    • Updating, publish and communicate process flow diagrams, process and instrumentation diagrams, functional design specifications and mass and energy balances.
    • Updating product specifications for the area and communicate to plant personnel.
    • Reviewing start-up and shut down procedures, best operating practices, and training manuals.
    • High level trouble shooting.
    • Root cause failure analysising and close outs.

    Outside Operator Groundwood

    As an Outside Operator, your responsibilities will include:

    • Conducts plant inspections of all pumps for leaks and proper functioning, check conveyors, chest and grinders for spills etc and report all problems on SAP and to the shift superintendent.
    • Inspects and sets-up rejects thickener and screw conveyor.
    • Starts up and sets up refiners, and manually adjusting load as required
    • Switches manual valves in the plant.
    • Manually operates the #4 Sump pump to empty the sump.
    • Inspects and sets all conveyors on the Kone deck.
    • Supervises Kone operation to minimise jam-ups when loading grinders.
    • After hours, identifies any blockages causing grinder overflow and remove blockage.
    • Assists Kone Operators with clearing of Jam-ups and problems solving on the Kone and grinders.
    • Cleans of hydraulic tank screens.
    • Cleans bull screen and maintains constant feed of rejects to the shredders to eliminate damage to the conveyor and shredder.
    • Cleans showers and sector bags on the pulp thickeners no.1 to no.3
    • Assist with isolations and issuing of clearances during normal operations and during shut-down.
    • Records SAP notification history in the notification log book.
    • Liaises with maintenance team, when a breakdown occurs or when engineering work is required
    • Issues clearances and work permits for isolations and work to be carried out in the plant
    • Reports all environmental problems on SAP and to the shift superintendent and follows up to ensure problems were actioned
    • Ensures all check lists are completed on vehicles and reports faults

    Required Minimum Qualifications: 

    • Matric with Maths and Science or N3 Pulp and Paper
    • 2 years’ experience in Pulp and Paper industry

    Outside Operator Digester#2

    As an Outside Operator, your responsibilities will include:

    • Must have a good understanding and technical knowledge of the plant.
    • Monitors, rectifies, and reports all deficiencies of the Cooking, Screening, Washing, Noodle and Auxiliary sections in the field (Outside the control room).
    • Initiates notifications to various maintenance Departments.

    Crane Driver

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Conduct daily safety checks on crane equipment.
    • Operate mobile cranes to move materials safely.
    • Follow load charts and manufacturer guidelines.
    • Perform routine inspections and maintenance.

    Core Cutter

    As a Core Cutter, your responsibilities will include:

    • Manages issues around Newsprint and KLB core cutter.
    • Offloads and stores cores, core plugs and steel tips on arrivals.
    • Drives forklift truck to handle and store material.
    • Cuts cores accurately to required sizes for KLB and Newsprint winders.
    • Loads cores as per size into core trolley compartments and issues to winders
    • Operates slot and expanding machines to insert steel tips into core end when required.
    • Cuts inner and outer for odd orders when required.
    • Records all material receipts.
    • Records all material issued to winder and wrapline.
    • Cleans working area every shift, including the areas outside the building at waste bins.
    • Carries out all instructions of shift supervisor during production shuts.
    • Strictly adheres to safety precautions laid down as per do’s and don’ts. Carries out all other instructions as assigned by supervisor.
    • Cleans both KLB and Newsprint core cutter rejects bin.
    • Cleans KLB and Newsprint dust-extraction bin.
    • Cuts core sample and send it to Paper Laboratory. Move empty pallets to the pallet yard.
    • Maintains a high level of good housekeeping in the workplace at all times.
    • Identifies and take corrective action in terms of SHEQ conditions and hazards.

    Required Minimum Qualifications: 

    • Grade 12 with Maths and Science or N3 Pulp & Paper.
    • 0-3 months experience working on a Paper Machine manufacturing process

    Payroll Finance Officer

    As a Finance Officer: Payroll, you will be responsible to: 

    • Prepare payment schedules in accordance with Legal, Regulatory and Statutory standards to third parties, to agreed payment terms with consideration of cash flow forecasts. 
    • Prepare vendor, customer and general ledger reconciliations monthly per the deadlines. 
    • Prepare payroll journals which includes accruals, reallocation journals and account clearings. 
    • Managing the garnishee process on receipt, capturing, reconciling and payment to the third party. 
    • Extract reports and review information for internal and external stakeholders relating to payroll which includes employees taxes and audit requirements. 
    • Assist the Payroll Department in the optimisation of systems and resources in relation to the Payroll Finance related functions.
    • Responsible for the review and required action of the shared payroll finance mail box. 

    The ideal candidate should have:

    • Grade 12 with a relevant NQF Level 5 qualification
    • Whilst a Payroll or Finance Diploma  / Degree would be considered advantageous
    • Minimum of 3 Years’ experience in a Payroll Administration with a finance background
    • Sound knowledge of GAAP and IFRS

    Hydraulic Millwright (Talent Pool)

    As a Hydraulic Millwright, you will be responsible for:

    • The modification of hydraulic and lubrication systems by configuring new components and installation to standardise equipment as far as possible to meet production and engineering requirements.
    • Collaborating with others (e.g., contractors, vendors, etc.) to implement and maintain services.
    • Ensuring that plant modification requests are submitted for all system modifications and approved by the relevant Production and Engineering personnel, including filing of documentation at the Drawing Office for future reference.
    • Ensuring drawings of plant hydraulic schematics, which are used for basic fault-finding, are updated timeously and correctly, and the latest revision is filed at the Drawing Office.
    • The commissioning of hydraulic and lubrication systems, and new or modified installations by making final connection to the plant according to production and engineering requirements and standards.
    • Ensuring hydraulic / lubrication systems comply with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 system requirements.
    • Assisting with investigations, creating/initiating, or updating drawings, recommending maintenance plans and procedures.
    • Oil sampling and implementation of recommendations as per oil sampling and analysis program.
    • Participating as a team member in the MDT team that carries out technical investigations regarding maintenance problems to close out failures on all Hydraulic / Lubrications related failures.
    • Performing standby duties.
    • Utilising all Sappi's systems in the execution of the maintenance strategy and realisation of the objectives (SAP, PS, PM, CO, RCA & Activity Manager).
    • Assisting Maintenance Engineers with the preparation of the Maintenance budget.
    • Supporting MDT.

    As a Mechanical Foreman you will be responsible for:

    Automation/Electrical Technician (Talent Pool)

    As an Electrical/Automation Technicianyou will be responsible for:

    • Ensure equipment uptime, calibration, and optimization of all electrical, electronic, and instrumentation equipment used to serve the purpose of Sappi such as PLCs, AC and DC Drives, DCS, protection equipment, measuring equipment, communication equipment, controllers, SLCs, UPSs, battery chargers and any other equipment that uses, switches, controls or generates electricity to perform some or another function concerning all the equipment the Technician covers both hard- and software.
    • Assist with solving everyday plant problems having a complexity that reaches beyond the trained knowledge of Artisans and Foremen, decreasing plant downtime, by making decisions, using specialised techniques with the aid of specialised measuring equipment.
    • Fault finding and repair on equipment up to card level depending on the availability of the relevant spares.
    • Reports such problems to direct Supervisor and Master Technician, investigate possible causes, research all possible solutions and make a choice as to the best solution and provide recommendations for most effective and economical solutions to prevent re-occurrence.
    • Manage and execute preventative and improvement steps, making use of the support of maintenance personnel or contractors depending on the nature of the specific task.
    • Ensure compliance with engineering standards, specifications and procedures of work done by inspecting and commissioning plant modifications.
    • Ensures accurate documentation updates according to Ngodwana Management of Change procedure.
    • Obtain information and knowledge from suppliers of equipment installed during a project. Knowledge obtained is to be transferred to fellow Technicians, Section/Discipline Engineers, Artisans, and Foremen, by compiling manuals. Double checks such manuals set up by Junior Technicians and Technicians.
    • Give on-the-job training to Artisans and Foremen.
    • Research possibilities of increasing performance and effectiveness of equipment, by continually keeping up with technology through supplier technical releases, attending demonstrations, training courses, and presentations supplied by contractors.
    • Advising the Master Technician about such new methods and systems.
    • Investigate, and compile the scope of work, and cost calculations, monitor installations, compile and follow up on punch lists, and ensure proper documentation.
    • Compiling of fault-finding, calibration, and optimisation procedures for new equipment to be used by maintenance personnel and other Technicians.
    • Identify training requirements needed for daily tasks performed by Artisans and Foremen.
    • Identify measuring and fault-finding equipment requirements and ensure Artisans have the know-how to fully utilise such equipment.
    • Submit monthly and weekly reports on section activity for the Electrical Engineer.

    What are we looking for?

    • NQF6: N. Diploma or equivalent
    • SAP knowledge will be advantageous
    • National Diploma
    • Heavy industry experience – 3 years
