Residence Assistant at Stellenbosch University

Duties/Pligte    

• Responsible for providing support to the Department as and when required, specifically to the Cluster Residence Services Coordinators and Residence Services Coordinators in the inspections and upkeep of the residences for which they are responsible;
• Providing relief to Residence Service Coordinators during long periods of absence from work and executing the tasks as per the KPA ;
• Maintaining safety standards within residences, houses and hubs;
• Assisting as much as possible with the reporting of maintenance tasks and inspections as requested by the Cluster Residence Services Coordinators and Residence Services Coordinators.

Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes        

• Grade 12 (Senior Certificate);
• Proven appropriate experience gained within comparable environments;
• Proven good interpersonal skills;
• Empathy and a positive attitude towards students, staff and clients;
• Strong communication skills;
• Good computer skills in MS Office (at least in Outlook, Excel and Word);
• Good administration and organisational skills;
• Good conflict management skills;
• The ability to work independently and with self-motivation;
• The ability to work thoroughly and to manage time effectively;
• The ability to act with confidence and authority;
• Professional customer service;  
• A valid driver's licence.

Recommendation/Aanbeveling        

• Technical knowledge about building maintenance and cleaning standards;
• Knowledge and experience in Occupational Health and Safety.
