    Range and Forage Science- Farm Foreman (Roodeplaat)

    Description

    • Contribute towards the development of cattle business and rangeland management plan.
    • Contribute towards the development herd health, rangeland management feed supplementation and production plan.
    • Contribute to plan internal and external research activities conducted on research farm animals by single or multi-disciplinary research teams.
    • Continuously monitor and maintain infrastructure (fences, dams, kraals and others) on the farm
    • Compile monthly and quarterly reports.
    • Collect and capture monthly performance data on all the animals on the farm or in accordance with research protocols.
    • Supervise/mentor university.
    • students/interns, research assistants and animal attendance on the farm.
    • Transfer technology during farmers and information days.
    • Complies with all occupational health and safety regulations.

    Requirements

    • BSc/Diploma in Animal Science, Animal Health and Agricultural Management or equivalent.
    • A postgraduate qualification with a track record of research experience will be an added advantage.
    • Three-year experience working as a cattle farm manager or in cattle farm or similar environment.
    • Demonstrate good understanding of cattle production and grazing systems.
    • Good communication skills (verbal and written).
    • Contribute to generates income from cattle sales to ensure self-sustenance of the enterprise.
    • Profiency in MS Office Suite.
    • Ability to work under extreme working conditions and overtimes.
    • A valid driver’s license.
