    Quality Coordinator (Smart Society)

    About the job:

    The CSIR has a vacancy for a Quality Coordinator in the SHEQ Portfolio. The incumbent will be responsible for implementing and promoting a culture of Quality throughout the Smart Society Division. This will be undertaken through the management of Quality systems, with relevant monitoring, review and evaluation activities aimed at the adoption of good business practices and mitigating related risks in the various competency areas and SET, operational and business excellence. In line with the following Management Systems: ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, GLP & ISO 17025, this will in turn facilitate the continued compliance of organisational strategies, policies, procedures and practices to relevant Quality standards, current best practices, and regulatory frameworks. This position is based in Pretoria.

    Key responsibilities:

    • Coordinate and monitor activities aimed at ensuring the implementation and maintenance of the Quality management system and the continued improvement practices of Quality best practice principles;
    • Review existing procedures for improvement to the latest quality standards and best practices;
    • Facilitate benchmarking of various business and operational processes and ensure these are aligned for consistency;
    • Develop, implement and maintain standard operational procedures to ensure uniform standards are applied across the organisation;
    • Provide administrative support of the quality management system, including but not limited to document control and record keeping;
    • Facilitate the capacity building of the divisional personnel on operational procedures, standards & Quality Management principles;
    • Investigate and facilitate the resolution of quality related non-conformities;
    • Responsible for the generation of divisional quality management reports;
    • Collaborate with cross functional teams on the implementation and improvement of business management system tools to ensure continued effectiveness, efficiency and that the system is capable of supporting compliance requirements to all applicable standards including but not limited to ISO 9001, 17025, GLP, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and the regulatory frameworks;
    • Conduct and facilitate Quality promotions and awareness campaign activities through various communication platforms;
    • Identify and consolidate relevant communication and awareness requirements through analysis of data emanating from the feedback mechanisms in use within the institution and incorporate them into relevant programmes;

    Qualifications, skills and experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Quality Management with a minimum of five years’ experience in the field.
    • Experience and exposure in the fields of computing, settlements, transport systems, logistics, and laboratories with related engineering qualification viz. civil, chemical, electrical, mechanical, industrial engineering or IT.
    • Experience in ISO 9001, ISO 17025, GLP and integrated SHEQ system, implementation and auditing;
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills;
    • Ability to handle large data sets and good report writing skills;
    • Facilitation skills
    • Customer centric approach to problem solving;
    • Ability to correctly analyse trends and data and develop appropriate interventions;
    • Computer literacy as an advanced user;
    • General knowledge of CSIR research fields and research methodology;
    • Basic understanding of the SANAS accreditation and certification process;
    • Exposure to project management will be an added advantage.
