    Production Superintendent - Johannesburg

    Mission of Function   Context: 

    • The Production superintendent is responsible for creating and maintaining a world class production environment and managing production output to meet sales demand at an optimum quality level. The mission is to create a lean environment

    Areas of Responsibility / Tasks

    Lean Manufacturing

    • Manage Lean Projects in Production
    • Analyse Data, identify waste elimination and initiate Spark Projects
    • Complete Cost and Productivity savings analysis for production
    • Drive Waste elimination projects
    • Drive One Piece Flow initiatives and processes
    • Design and ensure facility is designed for lean systems for material flow
    • Conduct Time and line design studies, analyse and provide input into projects
    • Drive OEE improvement projects
    • Ensure best industry lean principles applied to production
    • Apply Lean Six Sigma principles to the production facility
    • Collaborate and work with the Lean Manager on project planning and execution
    • Manage Takt time, Cycle Times, Production TAT systems
    • Engage and collaborate with all stakeholders on lean improvement projects within production

    CSDS Management

    • Planning and engaging with Supply Chain, Commercial and Sales teams
    • XML file updates
    • Execution of CSDS process
    • Improvement and Optimisation of the CSDS process
    • Ensure Daily Management of CSDS’s and update based on OMS and OOH requirements
    • Ensure attention to detail on Updates and metrics in place for tracking open/closed CSDS’s

    Recodes Process Management

    • Planning and execution of recodes required for meter processing
    • Coordination and engaging with commercial and Sales Teams on Recodes requirements
    • People and Process Management of the Recodes Department
    • Optimisation and improvement of the Recodes Systems and Process
    • KPI and performance management of the Recodes Department

    Repairs Management

    • Manage the repairs department
    • Ensure People Management of the Repairs Department
    • KPI and performance management of the department
    • Ensure process optimisation for the department
    • Daily Repair Rate and Failure Rate Management
    • Detailed Reporting and Analysis
    • Set, track and drive production targets and productivity measures
    • Actively monitor FTPY and Pass Rates.  Recommend and monitor improvements

    HR:

    • Daily management of the production staff and night shift management structure when standing in
    • Optimal staff planning including contractors and night shift requirements to meet production demand
    • Coordinate learning and development requirements
    • Manage staffing and union related issues in consultation with the HR
    • Monitor and manage production discipline

    Personnel performance management

    Production Management

    • Stand in for Production Manager
    • Weekend Duty Requirements
    • Daily production management to maximise output, minimise line stops and optimise labour utilisation
    • Manage and maintain batch scheduler
    • Analysis of variances e.g. WIP; production orders; line stops; time and attendance etc.  Formulate and implement actions for improvement
    • Ensure alignment of peripheral business tools with SAP (e.g. Batch Scheduler)
    • Continually strive to improve productivity and quality output
    • Responsible for management of production related concessions and deviations
    • Actively track and ensure proper control of production reworks
    • Maintain the production facility in optimum working condition according to ISO and 5-S principles
    • Benchmarking of world class indicators and value stream mapping for continuous improvement
    • Management of the Supermarket System
    • Ensure People management linked to the Supermarket Process
    • Ensure Material Recon’s and SAP recons completed for the Supermarket process
    • Ensure Process Optimization of the Supermarket Process

    Production Engineering Management

    • Generation of Parameter Id (via Proprietary OMT Tool application)
    • Linking all the xml files with parameter id
    • Creation of PDU files
    • Creation of laser Artwork files
    • SQL knowledge needed to accomplish some of the above tasks
    • KPI management of above tasks

    • Red tag committee – evaluation of reject material
    • Production planning team

    • National Diploma in Industrial Engineering, preferably Btech in Industrial Engineering

    • Experience in staff management and team leadership

    Intercultural Experience

    • Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural environment
