    Principal Process Engineer (Systems)

    Main Purpose of the Role:

    The Principal Process Engineer: Systems is accountable for ensuring the Process Engineering Department implements the appropriate process systems and procedures as well as software and ensures the tools are available and used profitably to achieve high quality and efficient project delivery. Specifically, this includes Intelligent (Process) Engineering Software and simulation software

    The Principal Process Engineer: Systems has two functions within the Process Department, namely:

    • Line management of the designers and engineers within the Process Systems Group, and
    • Process Lead or Principal Process Engineer on relevant projects or studies within the Process Engineering Department.

    Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

    • Tmanage the delivery of best practice process plant design associated with company organisational objectives and client requirements.
    • To be the prime point of contact for all communications relating to process engineering systems and simulations.
    • To ensure that the Process Engineering Department maintains a leading-edge technical capability by developing people, designs, industry contacts, new technologies and innovative practices, including process database development to assist centralised information for discipline deliverable inputs and integration.
    • Accountable to develop, maintain and improve the Process Engineering Department systems that include, but are not limited to develop process toolset skills, improving study execution to enable the process group to complete deliverables in a shorter schedule and/or less hours
    • Manages the process designers to ensure that a high-quality product is delivered on time and in accordance with budget specifications.
    • Identify and manage continuous improvement activities within the Department including the maintenance of company standards and procedures and process calculations.
    • Ensures that the appropriate people are recruited, retained, and developed within the Process Systems Group and optimally utilised to achieve best practices.
    • Accountable to provide the frame and context for the Process Systems Group within the Process Engineering Department and to give feedback and recognition for direct reports.
    • Accountable to develop and retain the relevant competencies within the Process Systems Group to secure and maintain competitive advantage.
    • Ensures that quality Process Engineering service, including drawings and design, is delivered to the Organisation.
    • Collaborate with the Process Engineering Manager and relevant personnel from other Disciplines to ensure the best technical input is provided for proposals.
    • Create clear guidelines to maintain quality and setting up robust templates to allow updates in process information, for example creating a Power BI or excel process database that can be updated and be used as a central location of information.
    • Provide mentorship and guidance to less experienced team members and assist in their professional development.
    • Manage data created with process drawings and preparing outputs that can be used to check formal process deliverables.
    • Ensure client satisfaction as a measure of alignment with client needs.
    • Contribute to company success in securing business and maintaining profitability.

    Skills / Qualifications
    Qualifications:

    • B Degree or B Tech in Chemical/Metallurgical Engineering
    • Experience in process systems and simulations, such as SysCAD and AutoCAD
    • M Degree in Chemical/Metallurgical Engineering
    • Experience in Intelligent Design system platforms, such as AVEVA

    Knowledge, skills and experience:

    • Ability to engage in systems design and implementation.
    • Management leadership ability.
    • Ability to establish and improve relevant work practices.
    • Capacity to scope improvements in practices and design and implement systems within a 1 to 2-year time frame.
    • Good technical knowledge of data flow from process design to discipline requirements
    • Good knowledge of the core business.
    • Capacity to improve and refine practices and systems within the Process Engineering Department to meet organisational objectives.
