Mechanical Engineering Supervisor - Aggeneys at Minopex

Introduction

This position will the based in Northern Cape Region (Springbok), but needs to travel when required

Description

• The purpose of this position is to assist management in direct oversight of the department’s daily operation

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Investigate, and diagnose problems and breakdowns to determine resource requirements and order spares according to Company procedures
• Perform inspections in accordance with the Mine Health and Safety Act regulations and assist with analyzing breakdowns and or any engineering related work.
• Supervise subordinates in their daily activities to ensure that maintenance is done according to organizational standards and requirements
• Co-ordinate and monitor equipment availability to ensure adherence to production parameters
• Continuously analyze equipment efficiencies to recommend or implement improvements and changes to maximize operations
• Communicate equipment information and changes to relevant stakeholders to minimize production delays
• Ensure that all installations and equipment are safe and in good working order after task completion
• Attend to breakdowns immediately to minimize downtime
• Determine work schedules in conjunction with other Engineering / Process teams to ensure availability and optimize utilization of equipment to the relevant sections and consult with production teams on maintenance activities that affect production
• Support the achievement of production and maintenance performance levels
• Enforce compliance with legal requirements, i.e. right to stop dangerous work, etc.
• Ensure all legal appointments are valid according to legislative requirements
• Conduct inspections, report the findings to management, and follow up on reports as required by legislation
• Ensure compliance with contractor packs, site safety files, and any other site-required documentation/ files.
• Manage nonconformance and incident reporting on site.
• Train site employees on safety topics, information
• Advise employees on legal requirements
• On-the-job training and coaching to be done with site employees
• Off-the-job accommodation and employee management

Qualification Requirements:

• Grade 12 or equivalent qualification 
• Valid section 13 Trade test / Section 26(D) in Fitter or Boilermaker certificate required. 
• SAMTRAC/COMSOC Certification (Will be an advantage) 
• Supervisor Certificate 
• Valid driver’s license code B, EB or C1

Experience and Skills Requirements:

• Minimum 7 years experience in Maintenance within the mining industry, with at least 3 years supervisory experience is required.

• Finance for non-financial manager’s experience is an advantage.
• Computer literate in MS Office
