    Marketing Regulatory Officer

    • Summary: As the custodian of regulatory compliance in the entire business, you will ensure that management and employees are at all times compliant with the rules and regulations of regulatory agencies in the markets in which the company is active. You will see to it that all packaging/product and marketing material is fully compliant to relevant regulations and standards of labelling. You will research and provide up to date scientific data to relevant technical and business teams in order to guide and direct application and compliance to existing and up-coming legislation.

    Minimum Qualifications and Experience required:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Life or Applied Sciences, Food Science, Food Technology, Biochemistry, Chemistry or Biotechnology.
    • 3 years in regulatory affairs, with a proven track record of dealings with regulators and industry bodies involved in the formulation of legislation.
    • Experience with regulatory compliance of food/homecare/cosmetic products in Africa.'
    • Analytical Skills – An ability to deep-dive complicated regulatory data/reports to glean, analyse and simplify key insights in order to guide correct interpretation and application.
    • Problem-Solver – Capable of applying quick and innovative thinking towards resolution of key regulatory challenges.
    • Negotiation and Influencing Skills – An ability to negotiate with and influence regulatory agencies during the formulation and/or implementation of regulations and regulatory guidelines.
    • Interpersonal Skills
    • Communication Skills – An ability to communicate across all levels of the business.
    • Technical Skills - An understanding and appreciation of relevant legal, scientific areas and their potential impact on development, manufacturing and commercialization of products.

    Responsibilities:

    • Ensure all packaging, products and marketing materials are fully compliant with relevant regulation, labelling, and advertising standards. Ensure products (e.g. cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, veterinary medicines) meet legislative requirements.
    • Master all national regulatory statutes applicable to business products portfolio.
    • Gathering, evaluating, organising, managing, collating and presenting regulatory information in a variety of formats that enable project and brand teams to effectively apply.
    • Provide advisory support to technical projects and brand teams to ensure that all products, packaging and marketing materials are fully compliant to the regulatory frameworks of the markets that Tiger Brands is active in.
    • Identify and construct effective relationships with key regulatory stakeholders to maintain a healthy level of influence on the formulation and/or implementation of regulations, working to support Corporate Affairs.
    • Keeping up to date with changes in regulatory legislation and guidelines.
    • Liaising with and participating in industry-wide bodies, including a variety of experts and specialists to ensure that regulatory formulation and application is constructive and not obstructive to industry activities, including innovation and/or introduction of novel ingredients and pack formats.
    • Liaising and negotiating with regulatory authorities.
    • Provide advice about regulations to the various business as well as NPD and marketing teams during and after new product launches.
    • Writing comprehensible, user-friendly, clear regulatory information job aids that guide and ensure that project teams maintain the highest quality standards and adhere to new regulation implementation deadlines.
    • Assist relevant business teams to assess, prepare and timeously submit comments during the construction or amendment of regulations.
