    Manager Corporate Affairs

    Job Description
    We are currently seeking a Manager Corporate Affairs to join our Kumba Iron Ore family at our Kolomela Mine operation based in Postmasburg. This is a key role within the Kolomela Leadership Team where you will:

    • Work with teams to ensure full understanding and implementation of the commitments for the Kumba business strategy (Tswelelopele, P101, and the full potential strategies).
    • Collaborate with other disciplines to drive stakeholder relations activities related to communities and social investment opportunities
    • Ensure adherence to statutory, corporate, and social development principles.
    • Develop and implement stakeholder/community management plans and drive effective stakeholder engagement.
    • Tailor and embed controls/accountabilities to ensure Public Affairs at the mine collaborate effectively with other disciplines to monitor and manage regulatory compliance (includes licensing and permitting).
    • Provide input to projects in areas of regulatory compliance risk relative to timing and scheduling requirements.
    • Monitor, anticipate and prepare the operation to constructively respond to changes in the external environment (political, environmental, legislative, social, etc.)
    • Consultation with and coordination of stakeholder engagement teams
    • Manage and implement stakeholder enhancement and engagement projects
    • Effectively manage the development of a suite of reports for management team and Government including: Company and Operation Charter Reports
    • Ensure adherence, implementation, and monitoring of the Anglo American Social way and manage the actions accordingly
    • Conduct regular stakeholder relations health checks
    • Conduct a stakeholder perception audit and develop adequate improvement plans
    • Provide senior management with specialized communication support, manage the operation’s crisis communication system and act as corporate spokesperson;
    • Analyze the external and internal environment to identify key business issues that require a communication intervention and develop suitable responses in partnership with key stakeholders;
    • Develop and maintain an integrated network of effective channels for internal and external communication;
    • Support senior management in external and internal communication, incl. adverts, speeches and news releases
    • Develop communication governance and align with the company communication strategy
    • Develop and communicate a message to ensure the positive image of the company brand
    • Clarify any misunderstanding and misconceptions with the external public through local media
    • Publicize the company's developmental interventions in local communities to enhance the brand of the company
    • Manage organisation of events
    • Develop and execute crisis communication processes
    • Effective People Management, ensuring that roles are well defined and clarified and that competencies and learning paths are developed.
    • Provide inputs into the development of the Social Performance program, including the Social Performance Strategy and Management plans
    • Monitor and manage the social risk according to prescribed guidelines, including potential Human Rights risks

    This role is in the Corporate Affairs Department at a Band 5 level reporting to the General Manager.

    Qualifications
    You will need the following:

    • Relevant 4-year degree / Hons Degree in Social Science / Business Management / Public Relations essential
    • 8 year’s relevant experience in Public Affairs and Communication practices
    • Master’s Degree (Advantageous)
    • Driver’s License: Code B (Light vehicle)
