    Manager: Communications

    Job Description

    • This role will form part of the Mass Foundation Cluster which is one of the largest customer-facing business segments in Old Mutual. Our vision is to be our customers' most trusted financial partner, passionate about helping them achieve their lifetime goals. Our primary goal is to facilitate access to financial solutions for our customers and to keep pace with their changing needs. Our target market is the low and emerging-middle income segment.
    • The role is responsible for the functional management and execution of internal engagement (employees), external engagement (stakeholders & PR), and customer engagement (regulatory and operational communication).
    • Develop a Centre of Excellence (CoE) in line with the Group communications strategies developed for internal and external communication.
    • Development of Customer Life Cycle journey for engagement and communication relating to touchpoints throughout this journey. 
    • An employee communications strategy that aims to make every employee a brand advocate
    • A PR strategy that confidently builds relationships with the media and aims to make them brand advocates for the MFC segment, while supporting marketing initiatives and group focus areas.
    • To deliver an external engagement strategy that strengthens our strategic partnerships with stakeholders.
    • Ensure our leadership team is adequately profiled.
    • To have a crisis management system in place should it be needed.
    • Manages reputational risk in the delivery of internal and external communications.
    • Provide support, and expertise and proactively manage crises and relief management to maintain the OML brand and reputation.
    • Provides expertise in the identification of communication opportunities and communication needs for different stakeholder groups.
    • Design and implement a strategic communications plan, aligned to both OML and GMPAS strategies, that drives engagement and shifts culture (including managing channels).
    • Drive the delivery and utilisation of effective platforms to boost effective communication.
    • Collaborate with the Group Marketing, Public Affairs, and Sustainability team to deliver consistent communication to external stakeholders.
    • Manage and monitor communications assurance & governance framework and mechanisms:
    • Maintain and manage communications playbooks
    • Advocate and socialize communications policies, principles, house views, and frameworks.
    • Monitor and ensure compliance to policies, principles, house views and frameworks and assist in dealing with non-adherence
    • Drives and manages accountabilities for certain legislative requirements specifically impacting the way we engage with our customers e.g. TCF, POPIA, PPR, etc.
    • Manage Budget spend and forecast.

    Requirements

    • Extensive experience in defining and implementing communications strategies and plans, including driving communication standards and governance across a business.
    • Experience in managing teams
    • Prior financial services industry experience preferred.
