    Learning & Development Manager - Malelane

    Job Description

    • Our Talent Team are currently looking for a Learning and Development Manager with a strong business acumen to join our Sugar Division to manage our SUGAR Learning Academy. The role will be based in Malelane, Mpumalanga, and reporting into the Group HR Executive: L&D, EE and B-BBEE Transformation.
    • The Learning Manager will be responsible for the design, alignment and implementation of a Learning and Development Strategy. The successful incumbent will be required to drive the creation of a vibrant learning culture across all the business units of the Sugar Division, encapsulating the shifts in learning as required within the new world of work, and drive the development, launch and sustainable implementation of functional, operational and leadership development interventions for the Sugar Business unit through various internal functional training Steering Committees.
    • Travel will be required for regular visits to the various sites, visits to the AgriSETA offices, attending SETA Sub sector meetings, and regular connect & synergy meetings to be hosted at the National Office in Durban, KZN.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Bachelor’s degree or advanced diploma in Human Resource Management or Education
    • Valid Code EB drivers’ licence.
    • More than 5 years proven experience in Talent Management and development practices.
    • Experience in the field of training including course design, development, and adult education/learning styles.
    • knowledge of effective learning and development methods,
    • Experience in designing and implementing bespoke training programmes.
    • Systems thinking and Knowledge of e-learning platforms and practices.
    • SETA management processes and stakeholder relationships management. 

    Duties & Responsibilities    
    Management Functions

    • Management of the Sugar Centre of Excellence / Learning Academy
    • Driving a high-performance culture whist managing a staff compliment of 10 employees
    • Drive the B-BBEE verification audit for the Sugar Business

    Strategy & Learning Framework Formulation

    • Design and implement a Learning and Development Strategy.
    • Formulate and drive the implementation of policy and guidelines for the development of the workplace skills plan.
    • Participate in the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of a skills inventory to assist in human resource planning and the identification of learning needs.

    Planning for Learning

    • Advise senior leadership regarding initiatives and activities that build capability and promote maximum staff effectiveness and create a positive impact on performance.
    • Coordinate an annual skills audit and analyse the results.

    Learning Design and Development        

    • Drive the development of induction, leadership, professional, production-focused, and technical, training, mentoring and coaching programmes using inhouse capacity or external vendors.
    • Design and establish benchmarks that measure the impact and effectiveness of development programmes on the organisation’s overall performance.

    Learning Systems Quality Assurance

    • Participate in ISO and supplier audits and ensure audit recommendations are actioned.
    • Identify patterns and trends in audit non-compliances and ensure that these are escalated for group review and policy change.
    • Manage the accreditation of the Learning Academy through SETA ETQA or QCTO.

    Talent Pipeline (Bursaries, Interns and Apprentices)

    • Manage the process of selection, appointment and development of the Bursary students, interns, learners participating in learnerships and apprenticeships.
    • Build relationships with relevant universities and learning institutions to enable the delivery of quality interventions for RCL FOODS Students.

    SETA Management

    • Ensure the successful submission of the annual WSP / ATR mandatory reporting.
    • Oversee applications for discretionary grant funding and the successful management of the awarded projects.
    • Perform programme management and qualification development within the SETA framework.
    • Participate in the relevant SETA Sub-Sector Committee (SSC), STC Committee, SETA Annual General Meeting (AGM) and most importantly to manage the stakeholder relationships with the relevant SETA
