    Junior Laboratory Technician

    Job Description

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Effective communication with lab manager, lab engineers and project teams.
    • Developing experience in identifying safety hazards and report OH&S incidents. Aware of WSPS approach to risk management, ethics and safety. Commitment to all associated WSP HSE Lab policies and procedures.
    • Developing experience in laboratory analysis of soil and tailings material, all sample preparation techniques in accordance with standards and procedures
    • Develop experience in laboratory test software and recording data using both hard-copy templates and computer-based applications (Excel/Access/Word).
    • Develop experience in understanding laboratory test requests and all laboratory sample registration protocols.
    • Develop experience in equipment checks and maintenance.
    • Commitment to best laboratory practices and good housekeeping and tidiness is essential.
    • Work with and provide support to members of the team as required.
    • Aware of WSP's organisational capability.
    • Aware of relevant systems, procedures and practices.
    • Ability to take direction and work independently as well as be team member and collaborate with other lab personnel.
    • Good written and verbal communication skills;
    • Laboratory testing experience, specifically Geotechnical testing.
    • Reliable and committed to producing high-quality work.
    • Time management skills, organizational skills, independent thinking skills, problem-solving and good attention to details.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and able to schedule and coordinate multiple tasks and assignments.
    • Valid Driver’s License (desired).

    Qualifications

    • Entry level position, school leaver, in addition to laboratory testing experience.
    • 1-2 years experience in a geotechnical testing laboratory.
