    Head of Marketing, Sub-Saharan Africa, International Expansion

    Key job responsibilities
    The successful candidate will have a strong track record of leading functions and teams, ideally in an online marketing or product environment. They will need to grasp the big picture quickly, create ambitious goals for the team, be process savvy to mitigate risks across evolving customer journeys, input into the design of marketing and customer lifecycle strategy, communicate the strategies to achieve these goals, and inspire and mentor the team. In a high ambiguity environment, they will need to inspire confidence, prioritize smartly and quickly build credibility with business and cross-org partners locally and globally. Finally, they will need to operate at all levels, from executive engagement to executing alongside their team and know how to simplify to deliver an engaging CX across evolving operations.

    As Head of Marketing you will have a deep understanding of marketing in general and a solid track record of online, customer lifecycle and performance marketing achievements. They will be responsible for clearly communicating strategy, long-term ops/product requirements and devising execution priorities for the team. They will develop a detailed understanding of customer behavior and understand the financial impact of long-term customer trends including, but not limited to, the growth of e-commerce generally and the transition to mobile and multi-platform buying. They will also have the ability to advocate on behalf of their customer with global product teams to ensure products and features relevant for the African customer/member are appropriately prioritized on global roadmaps.     Head of Marketing represents the customer interests and delivers against the customer objectives in partnership with internal and external stakeholders.

    Responsibilities

    In this position, the Head of Marketing will be responsible for:

    • Leading the marketing CX and customer lifecycle vision, strategy and plan with the goal of both attracting new customers and increasing purchasing frequency across their lifecycle in partnership with local business leads and global partner teams.
    • Working with global marketing and local leadership to develop the integrated marketing plan and strategy for our customers across online and offline channels for the consumer business, including investment levels, strategic priorities and implementation plans. Integrate various marketing efforts across channels and platforms into one unified vision that is authentic and seamless to the end customer.
    • Planning and leading the marketing implementation of events and other value-perception drivers to trigger customer adoption
    • Identifying potential customer and business opportunities and providing inputs to cross-org and regional partner teams to enable longterm regional customer and function growth
    • Maximizing revenue generation, cash flow, spend efficiency and customer acquisition/engagement through marketing channels and strategic initiatives
    • Developing customer insights and follow market segment trends closely to anticipate challenges and opportunities.
    • Continually improve the efficacy and efficiency of fixed and variable marketing spend and the overall operational health of the marketing function in collaboration with global partner teams.
    • Supporting the creation of product solutions and new capabilities and simplifying processes as required to deliver on the customer experience vision.
    • Driving robust and detailed measurement and reporting processes for performance and to audit and continuously improve operational health for marketing
    • Hire, develop and manage a high caliber marketing team scaled to the evolving needs of the business and marketing function.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration or Economics
    • Minimum 6-8 years of relevant experience in Marketing and/or Product Management incl. experience researching, conceiving and executing marketing strategies and plans.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • MBA or Master’s in Marketing, Business, Operations or related fields
    • Language proficiency in an African language
    • Experience working with diverse geographical teams
    • Experience working with product and tech teams on customer insights, requirements, feature roll outs
    • Experience in both fixed and variable marketing channels
    • Background in Online Marketing, Performance Marketing or Consulting.
