    Head: Employee Relations

    Purpose

    • We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Employee Relations to develop and implement strategies, policies, and programs that enhance relationships between employees and line leaders.
    • The successful candidate will address workplace issues and opportunities, ensuring compliance with labor laws. This role involves leading a team of employee relations experts and being accountable for departmental strategy and optimal performance through effective business planning, budgeting, goal setting, metrics, people management, standards, principles, and processes.

    Experience & Knowledge

    • At least 10 years of experience within a Labour/Employee Relations and/or HR environment, including CCMA, Labour Court, Disciplinary, and EE matters, with 5 years at a senior management level.
    • Experience in strategically leading, planning, and managing employee relations and/or employee climate and culture initiatives across a large organization.
    • Proven experience in conducting conciliations and arbitrations at the CCMA, conducting, initiating, and chairing disciplinary hearings, and leading and managing a team within a similar environment.
    • Demonstrated ability to build rapport with senior management and the broader organization.
    • Experience in active management of risk and reputation of the organization.
    • Creative and non-traditional approaches to develop practical solutions in an agile environment.

    Qualifications

    • A relevant tertiary qualification in Labour Law and/or Industrial/Employee Relations.
    • Ideal: A relevant post-graduate qualification in Labour Law and/or Industrial/Employee Relations.
    • A relevant qualification in management.
