General Technical Assistant (Boilershop) at SA Metal Group

RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

• Housekeeping: Ensuring the cleanliness of all work stations and areas surrounding them
• Assisting the Manager / Supervisor with Ad hoc duties
• Assist Boilermakers with general work tasks and upkeep of structural machines
• Adhere to health and safety regulations and instructions and advise the responsible person whenever there are risks identified
• Any other work tasks as operationally required

QUALIFYING REQUIREMENTS

• A minimum Grade 12 certificate
• Exposure to a Boilershop environment (advantageous)

QUALIFYING ATTRIBUTES

• Ability to cut various thickness of steel with gas cutting equipment
• Experience in operating grinding and drilling portable tools accurately
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Able to work independently
• Willingness to work overtime and weekends as per operational requirements if and when required
• Ability to work under challenging physical and climatic conditions
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to function efficiently in pressurized work situations
• In good health and physically fit
• Must be of sober habits
• Ability to work at Heights and in confined spaces
