    Executive Manager: Quality Assurance

    WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

    Strategy Development & Implementation

    • Contribute to the development and implementation of best practices, systems, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid RDM in improving Quality of its products and operational performance.

    General Management

    • Develop, implement, and maintain a robust Quality Assurance program that aligns with industry best practices and applicable standards.
    • Set performance goals, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance evaluations.
    • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that encourages professional growth and development.

    Quality Assurance (QA)

    • Ensure compliance with relevant quality standards, or other industry-specific certifications.
    • Ensure that RDM KPI Quality Targets are met as per organisational Objectives and Targets
    • Implement effective quality assurance procedures to identify and address defects or deviations from specifications.
    • Continuously review and improve existing quality assurance processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Work strongly with manufacturing Teams in ensuring Scrap limits are not exceeded.
    • Identify root causes of quality issues and work with relevant teams to implement corrective and preventive actions.
    • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure adherence to quality standards and regulatory requirements.
    • Lead quality audits, ensuring proper documentation and follow-up on identified non-conformities.
    • Assess potential risks related to product quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
    • Develop and implement risk mitigation plans to prevent quality-related issues.
    • Develop training programs to educate employees on quality standards, processes, and best practices.
    • Ensure that the management team is knowledgeable and compliant with quality-related policies and procedures.
    • Analyse quality metrics and trends to identify areas for improvement and report findings to senior management.
    • Inculcate and drive continued efforts in ensuring a culture built on the 6 Sigma methodology.
    • Generate regular quality assurance reports to track performance and communicate results.
    • Collaborate with procurement and vendor management teams to evaluate and qualify suppliers based on quality criteria.
    • Monitor and assess supplier performance, ensuring adherence to quality standards and contractual obligations.
    • Develop a Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) program to ensure supplier and raw material risk registers are kept up to date
    • Manage noncompliance by suppliers working with SQA, including issuing of Non-conformance Reports (NCRs)
    • Assist product development at times regarding raw material queries and testing
    • Assist in identification of expired stock, extensions where necessary and disposal when needed
    • Issue Certificate of Analysis (COAs) and concessions, where required

    Financial and Budget Control

    • Monitor and achieve budget and forecast for department

    Continuous improvement

    • Recommend, support and implement continuous improvement activities, processes and procedure to optimise results and improve quality of delivery, in line with quality standards requirements expected by the Company and the Customer

    WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE

    QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Quality or equivalent
    • Six Sigma / Lean Manufacturing skills (advantageous)
    • At least 10 years’ relevant experience in quality management within a medium to large organization (automotive or petrochemical preferred).
    • A minimum of 5 years of experience in staff management, performance management and leadership.
    • Experience in Quality Assurance Systems.
    • Strong knowledge of quality management systems, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
    • Certification in quality management (ISO 9001).
    • Master quality standards, problem-solving methods.
    • Ability to lead and perform well under pressure.
    • Strong leadership, problem solving and communication skills.

    Fundamental understanding of:

    • Applying a systemic approach
    • Customer & stakeholder expectations in respect of high quality products
    • Engagement & communication–from shop floor level to senior management
    • Adherence to processes, procedures and policies
    • Raw material, manufacturing and procurement
    • Hardware manufacturing and procurement thereof
    • Chemical – manufacturing of energetic materials
