Digital Director at University of the Witwatersrand

Brief Description        
The main purpose of this position/job is:

• This Digital Director will be the driving force behind the WBS: Digital Transformation.
• The individual will take full accountability for the Digital Deployment Strategy and oversee all Architecture, Infrastructure, Application development, network connectivity and Information Management of the program across the entire value chain.

Key responsibilities

•        Develop and integrate digital strategy and Innovation.
•        Drive digital innovation and serve as a cross-functional change agent across the school.
•       Implement digital strategy by working with cross-functional departments to map and transition traditional processes to digital ones.
•        Ensure that all relevant digital initiatives are fully integrated into the strategic-planning process for leadership commitment, resource allocation and execution.
•        Work closely with HR to attract and retain top talent, and to build digital capabilities across the school.
•        Ensure alignment with school and University strategic choices.
•        Assist with the development and enhancement of IT systems and process to allow for effective delivery of on-line classes.
•        Obtain industry Business Digitalization Process (BDP) on digital processes, systems, platforms, and internet-based solutions that WBS should evaluate for Fresh Frozen Plasma (FFP) or cost /affordability.
•        Work with the school departments to eliminate all forms of paper utilization throughout WBS and automate every WBS process used throughout the school.
•        Develop a comprehensive Disaster Recovery /Business Continuity Plan and recovery plan for all components of the WBS digital strategic plan and evaluate the plan annually.
•       Lead WBS digital steering committee and report on priorities, project implementation changes to the direction taken, financial performance against budgets.

Minimum academic and job requirements.

•       Master's in digital / technology, or engineering.
•       Minimum experience of 10 years in ICT (Information and Communication Technology) industry.
•      5 years managerial experience.
•    Knowledge and understanding of higher education.
