DevOps Engineer at Standard Bank Group

JOB DESCRIPTION

The DevOps Engineer is expected to apply computer science theories and principles to create, refactor moderate to complex programs/scripts, integrate software services, set up and manage cloud infrastructure. To design complex specifications, code, test, debug, and enhance programs within the continuous delivery pipelines. Provide support and maintenance of systems and programs. Execute software developer responsibilities according to DevOps practices, standards, frameworks, roadmaps, and architectural standards. Participate in reviews of colleagues' work and lead efforts to ensure successful production stability.

• Design, develop, and maintain the CI/CD pipeline infrastructure, automation scripts, and deployment processes.
• Collaborate with development teams to ensure smooth integration of applications and services into the CI/CD pipeline.
• Identify and implement improvements to optimize the CI/CD pipeline for faster, more reliable software delivery.
• Monitor and troubleshoot the CI/CD pipeline, addressing issues and bottlenecks proactively.
• Ensure adherence to DevOps best practices, including version control, automated testing, and deployment strategies.
• Strategically manage the cloud journey, including the selection, configuration, and management of cloud platforms and services.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud solutions.
• Implement cloud infrastructure as code (IaC) practices to automate the provisioning and management of cloud resources.
• Monitor cloud usage, performance, and costs, making recommendations for optimization and cost-efficiency.
• Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in cloud computing, bringing innovative ideas to enhance the cloud journey.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications
Type of Qualification: First Degree
Field of Study: Information Technology

• BSc Comp Science, B.Com Informatics
• Other Preferred Qualifications, certifications or professional memberships
• Certificate in a programming language or cloud computing

Experience Required
Software Engineering
Technology
5-7 years

• Broad experience in translating business and functional requirements into technical specifications and developing the programming code to create the solutions.

8-10 years

• Proven experience in modern engineering practices i.e. dev ops, agile etc., Proven experience across multiple, broad IT Engineering disciplines, with demonstrated specialisation in at least one. Experience within the required scope of expertise
