    Design Researcher

    Job Purpose

    • Contribute to Nedbank's solutions by discovering, interpreting and communicating findings, insights and opportunities in an actionable way. Ensure that research is grounded in a deep and contextual understanding of what matters to the people we're designing for. Tap into a broad understanding of various research methods and approaches and execute the correct research methodology/approach to bridge the gap between where our customers are, and where they want to be.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Conduct both primary and secondary design research
    • Determine appropriate research methods/approach based on the underlying design challenge
    • Prepare research data and synthesise the data, in collaboration with CX colleagues and others, to surface observations, themes and insights
    • Balance both agile and strategic research methods on a daily basis to influence product direction, and overall user experience across all touchpoints.
    • Work closely with multiple disciplines (especially UX and UI design) on aligned goals and influence business stakeholders.
    • Translate goals into research questions and develop research plans
    • Produce qualitative exploratory research including market research
    • Design and execute usability tests, heuristic evaluations, user interview, surveys, and ethnographies.
    • Collaborate with the CX team to create Personas and inform client journeys, scenarios, and red routes.
    • Conduct empathetic studies to better understand behaviour
    • Conduct environmental analyses to get a 360°-degree view of clients
    • Consult and collaborate with various product development teams
    • Help the business understand the relevant social, cultural, political, and economic factors that determine the relevant products and experiences that will land the best
    • Understand customers on an individual basis, but also understand customers on a macro level within their environments
    • Simplify the complexities of South African societies to help business create appropriate and helpful experiences
    • Detail the relevant Macro and Micro life moments to find opportunities to best service customers

     
    Essential Qualifications - NQF Level

    • Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate
    • Undergraduate degree in Clinical Psychology, Anthropology or Sociology or equivalent
    • Post-graduate qualification (advantageous)
    • Minimum Experience Level
    • Qualtrics Experience (mandatory)
    • Scaled Agile Framework Experience and certification (mandatory)
    •  4-6 years research experience (integrating various methods to form a coherent view of overall research efforts

    Type of Exposure

    • Accuracy of realisation of design
    • Analysing and interpreting quantitative and qualitative data for accurate design and implementation
    • Communicating design guidelines and guidelines to different stakeholders
    • Design tools
    • Design/ Modelling
    • Finding better/new ways to do things / improve / redesign
    • Have an in-depth understanding of architecting, designing and the implementation of a DevOps tool chain for an SME business.
