DC Handyman (Nightshift) - Midrand at Dis-Chem Pharmacies

Dis-Chem Pharmacies Distribution Centre in Midrand has an opportunity available for a Handyman to join the team. The main purpose of this role will be Assist with general plumbing, electrical, welding, carpentry, repairs and maintenance of building and surroundings.  Assist Plumber / Electrician as and when required.

Minimum Requirements…

Essential:

• Grade 12 / Matric
• Minimum 1 – 2 years’ experience in building maintenance

Job Specification…

• The Handyman will be responsible for the general operation of the conveyor. This includes starting and stopping the conveyor in the beginning and end of the shifts timeously.
• The employee needs to ensure that he activates the E-Stop when jams occur, when an employee is at risk or when maintenance needs to be conducted. 
• Clear errors on the VSD (Variable speed drives) when motors trip.
• Swap compressors, bleed water condensation when needed. Report when the compressors reach their service schedule.
• Coordinate, troubleshoot, and inspect, the conveyor. Assist the Lilac team with basic maintenance.
• Clean diverting sensors on a regular basis or when they become troublesome.
• Ensure all defects are repaired in a timely manner and are left in a safe condition.
• Assist with the changing of poly v belts on conveyors.
• Assist with the loading of the boxes on the conveyor when required.
• Straightening and alignment of box to prevent jams, ensure a high read rate both on the camera scanner and linear scanner.
• Comply with health and safety standards of the company.
• Report problems and provide a summary of actions taken. This includes having knowledge when to call out the LILAC standby crew.
• Maintain daily logs of maintenance and installation.
• Housekeeping must be in accordance to Dis-Chem standards. Make sure that your workstation is always clean and tidy.
