    Data Analyst

    Duties

    Duties may include, and are not limited to, the following:

    • Develop visualizations to convey results and insights to stakeholder groups.
    • Determine visualizations that are appropriate for supporting customer/stakeholder needs.
    • Apply analytical methods to test hypotheses, assess relationships, and solve mission-focused policy, methodological, or administrative problems.
    • Provide written reports of analytic findings to policymakers and stakeholders.
    • Provide insight and evidence to support decision and policymaking processes.
    • Use data from varying sources and formats of different qualities in preparation for analysis or visualization.
    • Orally present findings of analytical methods to stakeholders, including policymakers and technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Conduct analyses using mathematical and scientific tools (such as R, SPSS, Python, SAS, Tableau, PowerBI, Excel, or similar).
    • Clean datasets from a variety of sources with varying content to prepare for analysis and visualization.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience for the grade level to which you are applying:


    GS-13:
    Specialized Experience: Must have at least one full-time year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service (or comparable level of experience from outside the Federal service) performing ALL of the following duties:

    • Conducting analyses with mathematical and scientific tools (such as R, SPSS, Python, SAS, Tableau, PowerBI, Excel, or similar) to enable data-driven decision making;
    • Utilizing data analysis to develop process improvements by identifying trends and patterns;
    • Gathering and analyzing data to prepare and present findings (e.g., reports, briefings, slides, and data visualizations); and
    • Preparing briefings to facilitate presentations on the results of analytical studies and projects.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work performed through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
