    Apprentice (Instrument Technician)

    The business currently has stimulating opportunities to suitable candidates. These successful incumbents, who will report to the Technical Assistant, will gain an opportunity to be developed into an artisan, through a process of a 4-year technical development path leading into a Trade Test. The role will involve all maintenance activities under the guidance of trade tested artisans, adherence of all SHE, NGMP, Food Safety and Confectionery manufacturing standards of the plant. The programme will include Programmes/Phases 1 – 4 based theoretical training at a Nestlé chosen training centre as well as completion of the necessary processes and logbook documentations.     Key Responsibilities and Activities: 

     

    • Ensure coverage of all plant machinery, equipment, and skills relative to his/her trade.
    • Learning of the plant processes and machinery required to be covered as per allocated Line Skills Matrix.
    • Comply with the relevant NQMS/QMS/SPI/ OPRPs & CCPs procedures and ensure that these are fully documented and applied in the artisan role being trained towards.
    • Conduct in-process Planned Maintenance and quality checks as outlined to ensure defect free production with a minimum of interruptions.
    • Troubleshoot machines & equipment to efficiently produce products that meet all consumers and food safety standards.
    • Communicate effectively across shifts to ensure process and machines operate at peak efficiency and all problems are identified and corrected.
    • Identify and communicate continuous improvement opportunities with production teams,

    Apply and maintain the highest level of cleanliness and hygiene in responsibility,

    Assist and train operators to apply relevant standards and golden parameters within allocated area.

    Minimum Job Requirements:

     

    • Minimum of Matric (with Mathematics) required
    • Minimum N3 Electrical/Electronic Engineering with Instrument Trade Theory N3,
    • Safety and Hygiene knowledge,
    • Automation related exposure will be an added advantage,
    • Strong mechanical and electronics aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
    • Positive work ethic, curiosity and initiative coupled with a passion for new challenges.
    • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
