    Account Executive

    • Lessonspace is here to make teaching easier. We’re a fast-growing software company that provides tools for live, collaborative online learning. Thousands of hours of lessons are taught around the world every day using Lessonspace. Founded in South Africa, Lessonspace now operates globally, with Europe and North America as our biggest markets. During Covid, we grew 10X and we’re looking for a talented and ambitious Account Executive to help us keep up the outbound sales momentum.


    As part of our sales team we will look to you to present, promote and sell Lessonspace to tutoring and teaching organisations around the world.

    As an Account Executive, you will be required to:

    • Build your Sales Pipeline: Identify, engage with, and sign (close) new prospective clients within your customer segments. This can include cold calling, attending relevant conferences, hosting product demonstrations, pitching to multiple key decision makers over a series of weeks and co-ordinating payments and terms.
    • Launch newly signed clients. This includes scheduling product training sessions and facilitating API integration, to the point at which they have a paid subscription.
    • Successfully handover the maintenance of client relationships to an Account Manager to ensure ongoing client activity and to reduce the risk of dormancy.
    • Work within our CRM system, to manage, track and update changes in your sales pipeline.

    Requirements of the role:

    • A sales professional with experience in B2B SaaS, or in Education Technology.
    • Exceptional communication skills via phone and email, especially in a cold call environment.
    • Commercial nous and the ability to quickly determine the personal and commercial goals of clients.
    • Strong technical skills, and the ability to communicate complex technical features (APIs, server management) in an understandable manner.
    • Regular user of Lessonspace, room.sh, Teams, Meet, Zoom, or other live video apps.
    • Ability to organise and manage one’s own time and meetings strategically and effectively.
    • Curious and confident but not arrogant High achiever, A-type personality with strong attention to detail.
    • Realities of the Role
    • Working in a remote sales role and with education partners, some days might feel monotonous while others will be very high energy. The process of getting companies to take on a new system can be a challenging but a hugely rewarding process. Buy-in has to come from multiple stakeholders. Oftentimes, you will need to be managing multiple clients of different sizes, in various stages of the sales pipeline and their growth in using Lessonspace for their online teaching.

    • Resilience; you aren’t beaten down when faced with rejection or challenge.
    • Attention to detail and a strong foundation of the basics. E.g. Your meetings are scheduled and executed strategically, your CRM is updated, and travel time is planned to support your weekly/monthly priorities. A consultative sales and customer service mindset; you have a strong desire to draw out feedback from our clients and can present creative ways of solving problems our clients face

    • Remuneration and work environment:
    • Lessonspace is a fully-remote team, from time-to-time we might ask you to join us at an onsite office should it practically make sense.
    • You will report directly to the head of sales.
    • Remuneration is based on a 50-50 split between base salary and on-target-earnings.
    • The base salary is R20,000 - R25,000 (or the dollar equivalent) based on experience, with the monthly on-target-earnings being a further R20,000.
    • Commission is a monthly percentage of closed customers, with a 3-month ramp up period.
    • There is no ceiling to commission earnings.
