    The Compliance Office for Africa supports Siemens in its Africa wide business to compete fairly in the market by relying on the three pillars of the Siemens Compliance System “Prevent–Detect–Respond”. Based on these three pillars as well as a systematic continuous improvement process, Siemens has established itself as a recognized leader in the field of Compliance.

    What are the responsibilities for the role?

    • The role involves the provision of support to the Compliance Officer: Africa with all compliance related tasks and functions, including but not limited to:
    • Acting as trusted advisor of the regional and country management on all Compliance related topics.
    • Proactively creating awareness for, anticipating and mitigating Compliance risks.
    • Ensuring implementation of guidelines and regulations and execution of the operational Compliance Processes as well as Compliance controls.
    • Contributing to the set-up and continuous improvement of the Compliance System.
    • Ensuring the efficient roll out of the Compliance System in countries into which Siemens expands (e.g. Ethiopia, Sudan, Uganda).
    • Managing Compliance colleagues where required, and ensuring continuous knowledge exchange;
    • Conducting Compliance Trainings for all staff levels.
    • Supporting the Lead Country Compliance Officer in driving the Lead Country Compliance strategy and objectives.
    • Taking responsibility for driving the Compliance Communication Plan objectives and rollout.
    • Performing Business Partner Compliance due diligence and required trainings.
    • Supporting the convening and implementing of Compliance review Board meetings and implementing decisions reached with relevant country management and Conducting and/or supporting Compliance investigations and audits (local and central).
    • Policies, procedures and controls
    • Support the implementation and development of effective Compliance tools and processes
    • Provide guidance during the organizational development and integration of compliance into the daily business
    • Undertake applicability assessment of all key CCF PCMB controls
    • Refine control designs in line with global guidance
    • Strict adherence to RIC timelines
    • Drive, monitor and review assessment and remediation process
    • Identification of the need for development or update of policy and respective control in own area of responsibility
    • Build or participate in a network of experts to ensure consistency and quality of advice
    • Ensuring high professional standards of quality and transparency of processes
    • Ensuring that policies, procedures and controls are in line with Compliance Scope and Priorities
    • Risk Management
    • Understanding the business strategy and environment of respective Siemens businesses and identification of risks involved
    • Implementing processes and methods to identify, analyse, evaluate and mitigate Compliance risks
    • Prioritization of tasks and solutions based on risk assessment
    • Supporting development of responses and monitoring risk mitigation
    • Ensure that risks are adequately reflected in the Compliance risk portfolio
    • Case handling and remediation (support only)
    • Conduct local investigations (clarifications) and support central investigations
    • Support systematic tracking and management of all compliance cases
    • Support the exchange of information with relevant stakeholders according to the need-to-know-principle
    • Support remediation actions and effective implementation of remediation plan incl. continuous controlling of progress
    • Ensuring high professional standards of quality and transparency of processes
    • Trusted Business Advisor
    • Motivating and enabling business to assume responsibility for compliant business conduct
    • Acting as trusted partner and advisor by demonstrating expertise and understanding customer needs
    • Developing and sustaining a solid network based on trust within the business
    • Translate rules and regulations into the "language" of business and promoting them actively
    • Supporting to ensure that Compliance processes and tools are user-friendly and can be integrated into day to-day operations and strategic business decision making
    • Speaking as one Legal & Compliance voice to the internal customers
    • Facilitating Business success by actively developing practical solutions together with business as a team
    • Regularly seeking customer feedback
    • Communication
    • Acting as facilitator and multiplier in order to advance understanding and commitment of management and employees
    • Knowing what to communicate (including background mitigated risks and benefits), when, to whom and how
    • Acting as guardian by willingness to address compliance issues
    • Participating in business communication activities to promote Compliance system and integrity

    What do I need to qualify for the position?

    Experience

    • Professional experience in the field of Compliance, Project Management, Accounting or an operative business function, in an international company for at least 7 years.
    • Training and Education
    • Completed University Degree in Business administration, Engineering, Law or an equivalent combination of education and experience

    Knowledge

    • Strong leadership, interpersonal and team work skills, ability to be a trusted partner of the management;
    • Excellent business acumen;
    • Ability to communicate efficiently and training / presentation skills;
    • Excellent report writing skills;
    • Experience in cooperation in a project team and disciplinary or functional management;
    • Excellent oral and written English (fluency in French/Arabic/Portuguese would be advantageous);
    • Readiness to travel throughout Africa as required, and
    • Readiness to assume responsibility in the Compliance environment in East Africa.
