    Railway Inspector: Eastern Region (KwaZulu Natal)

    Requirements

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • NQF 6 National Diploma in any Engineering Discipline
    • Recognized subject matter expert in any railway sub-system
    • A minimum of 5 years' experience in railway safety background

    THE FOLLOWING WILL PROVIDE AN ADDED ADVANTAGE

    • Subject matter expert in Train Operations and Rolling Stock

    KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE

    • Sound knowledge of railway operations and railway sub-systems
    • Sound knowledge of relevant railway legislation and government policies relating to the rail industry
    • In-depth knowledge of the rail safety management system and applicable audit protocols, including the independent auditing and inspection thereof
    •  In-depth knowledge of the local rail Industry and operators within his/her jurisdiction
    • Sound knowledge regarding NRSR Act and Railway Safety Standards (ISO/SABS)
    • Excellent knowledge of regional railway operators/industry
    • Project Management Principles and Approaches

    KEY RESULTS AREAS

    • Swift response to railway occurrences when instructed to do so by the Principal Inspector or Regional Technical Manager
    • Conduct railway safety audits and inspections as per the regional operational plan and in line with the Railway Safety Regulator (RSR) Compliance policies and procedures
    • Document all audit and inspection findings, including recommendations in line with the RSR Compliance policies and procedures
    • Enforcement of compliance where non-compliances are detected in line with the NRSR Act and RSR Policies and procedures
    • Submit accurate and complete reports to the Principal Inspector for approval
    • Follow through on all audits and inspection reports to ensure the appropriate and timely closure thereof
    • Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure that the recommendations and/or non-compliances have been implemented by operators
    • Ensure that recommendations are correctly and accurately implemented to the extent that the identified risks are adequately mitigated
    • Promotion of railway safety compliance and awareness with all railway operators within the region

    Requirements

    • Electrical Engineering National Diploma NQF 6
    • 5 years’ experience in OHTE

    Human Resources Business Partner

    Requirements

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • NQF Level 7 qualification in Industrial Psychology/Personnel Management/Humanities or equivalent
    • Minimum 8 years experience as an HR Practitioner or similar role

     KEY RESULTS AREAS

    • Act as a strategic HR partner to business leaders, identifying HR priorities from organisational and business unit strategy and plans, translating business requirements into effective HR practices, and proactively delivering people solutions aligned to the business objectives.
    • Partner with the relevant stakeholders at RSR to ensure communication processes are working effectively within the allocated business areas.
    • Focus the allocated business functions on continuously improving employee engagement & the employee experience.
    • Conduct weekly or bi-weekly meetings with allocated business leaders acting as trusted partner, confidant, and coach, and provide HR advice where necessary - summarise the actions from these meetings and ensure follow-up and completion of actions.
    • Collaborate with HR Specialist Services to align their work with the business, deliver a seamless and integrated HR service, and implement best practice HR solutions in the allocated business function.
    • Advise and coach the allocated business leaders to drive effective performance management and development in their areas of responsibility.
    • Ensure effective workforce planning in the allocated business functions that align with budget allocations, meet capacity and capability requirements, and deploy appropriate attraction, talent, and development strategies.
    • Extract, analyse, and interpret Business & HR information/metrics to facilitate effective business decision-making and comply with policy and legislative requirements.
    • Ensure implementation of RSR’s talent management processes, to effectively manage employee development, succession management, and other talent management objectives to achieve RSR’s and the allocated business function’s strategy.
    • Conduct the Performance Planning Sessions and performance reviews by policies and procedures and take corrective actions where necessary.
    • Continuously provide feedback and coaching to ensure that the staff member/s performs at optimum productivity level.
