Job Purpose:

To provide a project management service with respect to the implementation of complex types of Lead Development projects in the City through the process of analysing, investigating, assessing and mapping out critical deliverables and costing frameworks.

Key Responsibility Areas:

• Responsible for the management of Lead Development Projects in the City.
• Responsible for the preparation of project Briefs and Business Plans for related projects.
• Responsible for the presentation of reports to various committees and the co-ordination of task teams and consultants.
• Strategically position the projects to facilitate Public Private Partnerships.
• Liaise with and assist the public, private sector, consultants, government bodies, local authority, political bodies and other service Units.
• Conduct or co-ordinate research and investigation into various aspects of projects.
• Manage projects with capital budgets and motivation to Council for capital budgets for projects.
• Secure funds for particular projects including infrastructure delivery.
• Provide project leadership to multi disciplinary project teams.
• Responsible for the mentoring of Project Officers and Development Facilitators in liaison with the Manager Special Projects.
• Serve on external Stakeholders Forums
• Write articles and speeches for the print media and comment on Development applications.

Essential Requirements:

• Relevant 3 year tertiary qualification, i.e. Diploma or Degree.
• Valid motor vehicle driver’s licence (Code EB).
• 6 years relevant experience in Project Management or a Development related field.
• Computer Literacy.

Preferred Requirements:

• Relevant post graduate qualification.
• A recognised qualification in Project Management.
• Registration with the Project Management Institute of South Africa.
• 8 years relevant experience in the property development and project management field within a municipal environment.
