Purpose of Job
- Ensures effective, accurate and timely reporting to external shareholders in compliance with statutory reporting requirements and Center of Excellence to manage the Group’s financial technical accounting and related SEC issues including timely and accurate technical accounting advice on critical business decisions.
- Provide group-wide governance support and input including the monitoring of SAP segregation of duties within the Group, managing group SOX standards, compliance and certification and processes and report on group-wide compliance as well as required external disclosures.
- CA (SA)
- Minimum of 10 years post articles relevant experience in Statutory Reporting,
- Proven managerial experience operating at a senior management level and
- Multinational business experience
- Sound Knowledge of SOX standards
- Superior knowledge of IFRS
Key Accountabilities
Deliver on the external statutory reporting requirements of the Sasol Group effectively, timely and accurately in compliance with IFRS and SEC requirements
- Accurate and on-time fit for purpose external financial reporting
- No SENS corrections or disclosure issues
- No significant technical accounting errors in From 20-F, AFS, AIR, result announcement, analyst book or other financial publications
- Consistency within all external publications
Manage the technical accounting process in group
- Provide effective guidance and steer to group on all technical accounting and related SEC issues
- Provide high quality IFRS training to the Sasol Group
- Efficient RPC process dealing with issues effectively and ensure that the RPC plan is monitored and adhered to
Reporting to the audit committee
- Compile financial board papers reporting to Sasol Limited Audit Committee and Board
- All significant accounting issues pro-actively reported to the audit committee
- Report on instances of non-compliance to Audit committee and follow-up with relevant heads of department on mitigating actions
SOX404 compliance, monitoring & guidance to the Group including coordination of the group-wide Segregation of duties (SOD) process
- Manage group-wide SOX compliance process, including internal control over financial reporting and annual SOX certification
- Financial input , guidance and sign-off on DOA
- Effective gate keeping of an integrated financial risk framework and strategy in line with King III and SOX requirements
- Monitor group-wide SAP segregation of duties and accountable for group-wide SOD ruleset in line with best practices as well as standardised mitigating controls
Coordinate the Holding Company responsibilities for the Group
- Accurate and on-time fit for purpose external financial reporting for Holding Companies, including board and shareholder reporting
- All key transactions accounted for in line with IFRS
System and processes
- Embed group policies and procedures with regards to fit for purpose financial reporting and systems
- Manages continuous improvement initiatives including process and results optimisation
- Optimal performance of financial systems and processes
Customer and stakeholders
- Maintain healthy relationships with Group entities, functional support functions, external auditors and external service providers
- Network with key stakeholders in the Group and provide guidance and advice in terms of compliance to reporting frameworks
