    Superintendent Contractor Management - Hotazel Manganese Mines

    Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

    • Support operations to ensure that the Contractor Management System of Work (CMSoW) is effectively deployed by;
    • Managing the process of appointment and training of single point of accountability/contract owner for each supplier onsite, with clearly defined accountabilities for each role;
    • Managing the prequalification and competency verification of contractors being onboarded;
    • Ensuring that comprehensive scopes of work are created, the supplier selection process is followed, and work is planned and executed as per standard;
    • Ensure service contractors are managed to comply with South32 and legal requirements.;
    • Manage the Electronic Contractor Management System of Work (BISTrainer), which forms the critical data exchange between contractors and ASA;
    • Ensure that contractors are trained and developed in cases where safety critical learning gaps have been identified and reassess individuals to close the gap;
    • Approve, maintain, and terminate non-traded contracts and manage service contractors associated with the contracts;
    • Ensure governance of a company-wide Ethical Sourcing Plan, which includes an integrated set of activities that form our approach to preventing, detecting, and responding to modern slavery risks in our operations and supply chain.
    • Implement and, where necessary, revise business plans to meet targets optimally.

    ABOUT YOU:

    You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

    • Must have a minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience, of which 2 years should be in a supervisory capacity;
    • Experience in contractor management.
       

    Qualifications for this role are

    • Degree or National Diploma in any industrial field.
    • A master’s or Honors degree will be an advantage.

    Specialist Maintenance Assurance & Analysis - South32, Wessels Mine

    Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

    • Compile and maintain weekly/monthly maintenance reports;
    • Analyse maintenance data for trends and deviations to improve maintenance and ensure process adherence;
    • Distribute maintenance reports to key stakeholders;
    • Assist MA&A department with launching and maintaining of LEAN boards;
    • Assist MA&A specialists to compile data for equipment failure investigations;
    • Storing of all certificates and maintenance reports in the maintenance folder.

    ABOUT YOU:

    You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

    • Must have a minimum of 1 year experience in a maintenance environment;
    • Must have experience in an office and reporting environment;
    • Proficiency in MS Office Suite;
    • Proficiency in Power BI will be advantageous.

    Qualifications for this role are:

    • Grade 12 certificate;
    • Technical qualification or trade;
    • Certification in Office Administration will be advantageous.

    Specialist Mine Design - Mamatwan Mine

    ABOUT THE ROLE:

    This role is a permanent full-time position.

    • As a Specialist Mine Design , you will be responsible for all the mining engineering activities under the area of responsibility. The Specialist will be responsible for all the mine design task related to Mamatwan, including all the drilling and blasting work including setting the direction and planning all infrastructure work require to assist the planning process.

    Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

    • Responsible for all the blast block designs in the Mamatwan Pit;
    • Well Design Work to enable all Drill & Blast activities can be executed in a safe and practical manner;
    • Meet mining objectives by ensuring all planning Designs & Deployment strategies are up to date and aligned with the monthly and yearly plan. Highlighting risks to planning execution in advance;
    • Weekly site visits are required with the Specialist Mine scheduler to ensure alignment in terms of the deployment strategy and to identify future design requirements;
    • Analyze and report performance against Mine Designs (Reconciliation);
    • Discuss/Highlight any ongoing challenges, as well as recovery plans if not performing against plan;
    • Provide recommendations for improvement and monitor any actions required to get back on plan. (Risks & Opportunities with an Action Plan);
    • Plan, organize and monitor work of the Drilling Contractors.

    ABOUT YOU:

    You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

    • Must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in Opencast Mining and planning of which 1 year is in a Supervisory capacity;
    • In depth knowledge in Blast Block Designs;
    • In depth knowledge of Drill and Blast Engineering;
    • In depth knowledge of Deswik CAD, or related software competencies.
    • In depth knowledge and understanding of basic workplace Health, Safety and Environmental principles;
    • In depth knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act, regulations and definitions. 

    Qualifications for this role are:

    • Degree/BTECH/National Diploma in Mining Engineering or Mine Surveying;
    • Surface Mine Blasting ticket.

    Authority To Work Officer -Wessels Mine

    ABOUT THE ROLE:

    This role is a permanent full-time position.

    • As an Authority to work officer, you will be responsible to ensure alignment and compliance to the authority to work process for the mine.

    Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

    • Issue ATW and Permits that he/she has been trained on, accredited, and appointed for;
    • Administer all documentation associated with the ATW process, including document storage requirements;
    • Link the ATW to the relevant permit(s);
    • Validate that the work group(s) and Authoriser for ATW has the scope of work clearly defined;
    • Validate the correct identification of equipment to be worked on with the Authoriser for ATW;
    • Review changes to scope of work and assess impact on ATW status;
    • Manage the issue and return of temporary personal locks;
    • Communicate with operations once an ATW is closed, i.e. ready for unlocking;
    • Issue ATW only within the area they are appointed to;
    • Where there is an associated lockbox isolation, confirm that the scope of work can take place within the original intent and boundary of the isolation;
    • Keep the ATW office neat and professional;
    • Perform workplace Interactions and record these.

    ABOUT YOU:

    You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

    • Must have a minimum of 3 years in mining environment underground essential
    • Previous supervisory experience and 1SAP knowledge is advantageous. 

    Qualifications for this role are:

    • Grade 12/Matric Certificate;
    • N3 Technical Certificate/ Mineral Processing L2/ Safety Qualification SAMTRAC, COMSOC 1&2
    • Recognized Safety Qualification e.g. Diploma
    • Valid Red seal trade test;
    • Valid drivers license;

    Specialist Analysis & Improvement Plant - Mamatwan Mine

    ABOUT THE ROLE:

    This role is a permanent full-time position.

    • As a specialist analysis and improvement, you will be responsible for enabling the business to embed business improvement into the business and ensure that resources are direct effectively at the highest benefit projects.

    Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

    • Evaluate and improve mining, mine planning and plant processes and systems and implement critical controls to improve safety;
    • Analyze mining, mine planning and plant processes to optimize production;
    • Identify and facilitate the implementation of improvement initiatives that enable functional excellence;
    • Conducting benchmarking of the production function; performance and identifies opportunities that support business priorities for continuous improvement.
    • Supporting LEAN, Continuous Improvement and implementation of the South32 Operating Model;
    • Prioritization of Business Improvement Initiatives;
    • Develop systems that support change initiatives to be managed locally maintain simplicity and standardization.

    ABOUT YOU:

    You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

    • Must have a minimum of 4 years relevant experience in a production or business improvement environment of which at least 1 year in a supervisory capacity;
    • Knowledge of LEAN, RCA methods and FMECA methods;
    • Experience of Modelling and Data Analysis of Beneficiation Plants;
    • Knowledge of mineral processing, sintering process, production planning and management systems;
    • Understanding mine information systems, sound knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI, Minitab, SCADA, fleet management systems. 

    Qualifications for this role are:

    • Degree / BTECH / National Diploma in Industrial/Chemical/ Metallurgical Engineering;
    • Valid Driver’s license

    Specialist Mine Planning - Mamatwan Mine

    ABOUT THE ROLE:

    This role is a permanent full-time position.

    • As a Specialist Mine Planning, you will be responsible  for all the mining engineering activities under the area of responsibility. The Specialist will be responsible for short-term mine scheduling of all production tasks related to Mamatwan, to deliver the business plan.

    Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

    • Responsible for producing short-term mine plans in the Mamatwan Pit;
    • Develops medium to short-term production plans, models, schedules and forecasts in conjunction with both internal and external stakeholders;
    • Perform quarterly forecast to accommodate any major changes to the plan;
    • Monitor performance against plans and execution of Short Term Mine Plans;
    • Compile Mine plan compliance reports;
    • Weekly site visits are required with the Specialist Mine Design to ensure alignment in terms of the deployment strategy and to identify future design requirements;
    • Provide recommendations for improvement and monitor any actions required to get back on plan. (Risks & Opportunities with an Action Plan);
    • Contribute to project initiation, scope definition and scope change control;
    • Contribute to delivering departmental Business Improvement EBIT/benefits target via the BI Project Pipeline.

    ABOUT YOU:

    You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

    • Must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in Opencast Mining and planning;
    • In-depth knowledge in Deswik (Deswik CAD, Deswik SHED), MicroStation, or other scheduling software is essential;
    • In depth knowledge of mine design is an advantage;
    • In depth knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act, regulations and definitions is essential;
    • Computer literacy in MS Office Suite and SAP is essential.

    Qualifications for this role are:

    • Degree/BTECH/National Diploma in Mining Engineering or Mine Surveying;
    • Surface Mine Blasting ticket is advantageous;
