    Senior Manager Learning & Development

    Key Internal Contacts

    Location: South Africa Randburg

    Purpose of the Position:

    • To develop and drive the Learning & Development strategy, identifying opportunities and drive innovation across Africa for the organization.
    • Lead the Learning & Development function through cross functional teams to develop training programs that deliver against the brand, organizational strategy and customer promise for all our ROA territories.

    Key Performance Objectives/Tasks

    Strategy Formulation and Execution

    • Develop the L&D strategy, ensuring alignment to organisational strategy
    • Oversees the creation of content, e-learning, collateral and other training materials that will impact behavior-changing training using various training theories inclusive of job aids, facilitator and participant guides, on-the-job training systems, tutorials, and demonstration model
    • Enforce best practices in L&D activities to ensure maintenance of top-notch training programs that enable top notch performance.
    • Identify and cultivate the required capabilities, organisational structure and operating rhythm required to deliver the strategy
    • Maintain knowledge in the department, keeping it up to date with the latest training practices, trends, and technology.
    • Develop relevant business cases to fill a specific training need, and secure the relevant funding
    • Manage relevant RFPs/RFIs/Quotes as and when required to fill a specific need
    • Publish the Annual Training plan
    • Manages all vendors to deliver overall Training

    Content Development

    • Drives the development of programs that incorporate overall business objectives.
    • Develop and maintains fixed and interactive learning solutions that drive measurable results for the business and guarantee that those solutions are instructionally sound and are up to the business’s quality standards.
    • Develop all training across the organisation, including but not limited to, Induction, Leadership, Marketing, Brand, Sales, Field Services, Product, Customer Service, Retention, Self Service/Payments, softskills
    • Create brochures, training materials, multimedia visual aids, and presentations; utilize existing content development process to create tools and new learning solutions
    • Develop and ensure successful implementation of training curriculum that covers, functional, leadership and soft skills, digital, nugget, quantitative, performance, coaching/training.
    • Draw up training Plan and Training resource schedule across continent and drive implementation
    • Oversees implementation of training systems
    • Manages vendors in delivery of training content
    • Manage all training facilities
    • Identify and implement training reports

    Stakeholder Management

    • Partner with the business to ensure that L&D is aligned to the broader organisational strategy
    • Cultivate and maintain customer relationships to ensure that the L&D strategy objectives deliver business outcomes in support of the overall business and corporate strategy
    • Build solid cross-functional relationships with departmental heads and management across the business
    • Maintain working relationships with subject matter experts
    • Define requirements for external partners in line with overall business strategy goals and ensure appropriate Training partners are aligned

    Training Toolsets Management

    • Identify required tool sets, produce plan to implement toolsets, provide budget for toolsets and get approval
    • Knowledge management tool to be utilized as the reference guide for all product knowledge, accessing assessments, team collaboration and new updates
    • Ensure learning technology system and tools are availability to Perform learning technology administration and support.
    • Conduct relevant RFPs and procure and implement toolsets

    Budget Management

    • Set budget for the L&D Unit including the setting of goals and targets.
    • Manage financials and associated controls in respect of the Division (effective cost control).
    • Implement action plans in respect of budget deviations.
    • Manage Cash flow and control and financial reporting.
    • Manage departmental budgets including signing off of invoices and quotes within mandate. Escalate out of budgets or items higher than approved mandate to the next level manager.
    • Rigorously monitor expenditure against approve budgets and put measures in place to address variances. Continuously identify areas for improved efficiency and reduced cost.
    • Ensure budgets, plans and forecasts are managed and tracked periodically and use these inputs to proactively identify business opportunities
    • Ensure training budgets are tracked across the various countries
    • Manage project training budgets

    Training Assessments

    • Conducts current and ongoing strategic assessments of business-wide training and development programs and initiatives
    • Manages the creation of testing and evaluation processes of the effectiveness of training programs.
    • Measures program delivery quality, which ensures continuous improvement, maintenance, and adjustment in program delivery approaches accordingly in order to maintain pace with business growth.

    Qualifications

    • BCom HR Degree or equivalent qualification.
    • ETDP Qualification/ Related Training Qualification
    • Postgraduate qualification will be an advantage
    • Business or Process Analysis certification will be an advantage
    • Project Management qualification will be an advantage
    • Leadership qualification will be an advantage

    Experience

    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role or leading a Learning & Development function
    • Training and or Facilitation experience working with African markets
    • Must have Programme Management skills and experience in a dynamic environment
    • Strong conflict resolution and people management skills
    • Good overall knowledge and experience of the Multichoice Africa Business
    • Experience in a Telco or media type environment
    • Customer Service environment knowledge and experience
    • Extensive experience preparing presentations and presenting at exco level
    • Good understanding of the EVP (employee value proposition) and CVP (customer value proposition).

    Programme Acceptance Coordinator

    Purpose of the Position:

    • To effectively monitor content to classify, process and deliver content with the required attributes.

    Key Performance Objectives

    Content Verification

    • Monitor Content is verified according to running orders and storyline.
    • Escalate and communicate any content queries.
    • Escalate any serious concerns that could have Channel reputation and or BCCSA impact to Senior management.
    • Ensure content is verified and rated within deadline to contribute to the 99.995% on-air availability.
    • Ensure Catch Up content is prioritized to be verified and rated to contribute to meet the 95% on time delivery to BTD VOD Ops

    Scheduling advice to channels

    • Provide scheduling insight at channel planning meetings.
    • Respond to any scheduling queries from Channels.
    • Ensure effective communication with stakeholders regarding high age titles.
    • Ensure effective communication on titles not suitable for Rest of Africa

    Regulatory (BCCSA & ICASA)

    • Moderate BCCSA responses from each PA Officer before submitting to Management & Regulatory Dept.
    • Attend tribunals with Multichoice Regulatory Department on all M-Net complaints.
    • Create and distribute weekly BCCSA status document on all complaints received.
    • Assist Multichoice Regulatory department on any issues regarding ICASA license.

    Channel workshops

    • Present and engage all Channels regarding BCCSA guidelines and advice during script and pre-production phase.
    • Channel & Production liaison to ensure BCCSA compliance.

    Qualifications

    • A Degree in Business Management/ Technical Sciences or equivalent NQF Level 7 qualification

    Advantageous

    • Post Graduate Degree

    Experience

    • A minimum of 5-8 years of experience in broadcast or similar position
    • Video Entertainment Industry specific knowledge and experience
    • Media and content experience
