    Senior Assistant Officer (post level 12) - (1086)

    Duties and responsibilities:

    Office Administration:

    • Perform general office management, as well as Community Based Education (CBE) office administrative duties. 
    • Apply regulations regarding student placements and transport.
    • Perform general administrative duties relating to student enquires, liaison between the different CBE stakeholders, CBE placements, CBE transport, and control of CBE statistics. 
    • Handle all purchases and orders via the university's requisition system.
    • Arrange meetings, functions, venues and catering. 
    • Take minutes of staff meetings.
    • Responsible for travel and accommodation arrangements for line manager and staff members.
    • Liaise with printing department pertaining facilitator/ study material and arrange journal transfers.
    • Liaise with HR and Finance Departments pertaining to appointments and payments. 
    • Handle fleet management: oversee the usage of vehicles, collect petrol slips, make bookings for bus road worthy test, arrange for license renewals, arrange vehicle repairs and services.
    • Manage F1 claims and make submissions.
    • Arrange interviews - arrange venues and liaise with candidates pertaining the interview. 
    • Request and collect quotations from suppliers for procurement of goods and services.
    • Handle petty cash card, arrange funds & make available for hand payments, reconcile receipts and arrange for new funds.
    • Oversee and assist suppliers to register as vendors, collect forms with required documentation and submit for approvals.
    • Assist other staff members and students with any issues related to the office. 
    • Perform any other tasks as requested by line manager from time to time.
    • Coordinate Inter Professional Education (IPE) activities between Clinical Skills Unit, facilitators, and students. 
    • Arrange Simulated Patients (SP’s) for IPE simulations and payment of SP's.

    Client Support:

    • Provide client services to all stakeholders, e.g., the handling of the telephone and general enquires, arrangements of collaborative engagements such as workshops.
    • Liaise with the relationship between management and stakeholders.
    • Handle student placements, marketing and students’ complaints.

    Data Capturing:

    • Capture data collected during CBE placements.
    • Administration and maintenance of database.

    Inherent Job Requirements:

    • Grade 12 or National Vocational Certificate on NQF level 4.
    • Three (3) years’ relevant working experience related to the duties and responsibilities indicated above.
    • Valid driver's license (Code C).

    Recommendations:

    • Bachelor's degree on NQF level 7 or a National Diploma on NQF level 6.

    Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor (2 positions) - (1084)

    Duties and responsibilities:

    • Teach Industrial Psychology and Human Resource Management modules to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
    • Conduct high-quality research, publish in accredited journals, and deliver quality research outputs in line with the faculty's research strategy.
    • Provide supervision to postgraduate students, namely Honours, Masters, PhD students, and professional industrial psychology interns.
    • Provide leadership in pursuit of the department and faculty strategic plan with regard to research, teaching, engaged scholarship and leadership and administration.
    • Perform academic administration pertaining to undergraduate and postgraduate subjects – this may include typing, setting, and marking all question papers and memorandums, recording marks and handling student complaints.
    • Serve as a member of various academic committees and perform any other tasks allocated by the Dean and head of the department.
    • Develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with relevant research, civil society, government, industry, and professional organisations.
    • Contribute to curriculum development within the faculty.

    Inherent requirements:

    Lecturer:

    • A PhD on NQF Level 10 that is relevant to the field of Industrial Psychology/Human Resource Management (for a permanent appointment).

    OR

    • A Master’s degree on NQF Level 9 that is relevant to the field of Industrial Psychology/Human Resource Management (contract appointment: 5 years, during which a PhD on NQF Level 10 relevant to the field of Industrial Psychology/ Human Resource Management must be obtained to be converted into a permanent appointment).
    • Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an Industrial Psychologist OR registration with the South African Board of People Practices (SABPP).
    • Evidence of professional supervision of intern industrial psychologists (if registered as an Industrial Psychologist).
    • Proven experience in poster or oral presentation at conferences and publication of articles.
    • Excellent research record as demonstrated in the applicant’s completed master’s/PhD studies.
    • Provide evidence of manuscripts produced that have the potential to be converted or submitted for publication, ideally in an accredited journal.

    Senior Lecturer:

    • A PhD on NQF Level 10 that is relevant to the field of Industrial Psychology/Human Resource Management  
    • Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an Industrial Psychologist OR registration with the South African Board of People Practices (SABPP).
    • Proven record of teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
    • Proven experience in supervising to completion of master’s and PhD students and if registered as an Industrial Psychologist, industrial psychology interns.
    • Proven experience in the presentation of papers at national scholarly conferences.
    • Proven national recognition for specialist expertise and research in a specific area of scholarship.
    • An NRF rating or demonstrate potential for obtaining an NRF rating.
    • Proven experience in supervision of graduated master’s students.
    • A proven research record of relevant publications in national and international accredited journals.
    • Proven experience of service as an active member of a national or international scholarly society or committee or agency concerned with research at higher education levels.

    Associate Professor:

    • A PhD on NQF Level ten (10) that is relevant to the field of Industrial Psychology/ Human Resource Management.
    • Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an Industrial Psychologist OR registration with the South African Board of People Practices (SABPP).
    • Proven record of teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
    • Proven experience in supervising to completion of master’s and PhD students and if registered as an Industrial Psychologist, industrial psychology interns.
    • Experience as an external examiner for postgraduate students.
    • Proven experience in the presentation of research papers at national and international conferences, where there is evidence of peer review of papers.
    • Experience on the editorial board of a scholarly journal.
    • Proven national recognition for specialist expertise and research leadership in a specific scientific area of scholarship.
    • An NRF rating of Y1, Y2, or C3 or equivalent status.
    • Proven experience in the supervision of graduated master’s students.
    • A proven research record of relevant publications in accredited national and international journals.
    • Proven service experience as an active member of a national or international scholarly society, committee, or agency concerned with research at higher education levels.

    Recommendations:

    • Proven lecturing experience in the Higher Education environment.
    • Evidence of professional supervision of intern industrial psychologists.
    • Proven experience in presenting Industrial Psychology modules such as Research Methodology, Employee Wellness, and Labour Relations.
    • Proficiency in computer skills, e.g., MS Word, excel, PowerPoint.
    • Proven skills in data analysis using IBM SPSS, AMOS, PLS.
    • Good command of the English language.
