    Psychologist III(Part Time)

    Main Objectives

    • As a senior member of a team of psychologists and interns in the Counselling Centre, the primary purposes of this job are to provide comprehensive counselling and psychological support to students, provide advice to University staff members in managing students with psychological problems, assist the Manager of the Centre in the supervision and training of intern and qualified psychologists and to deputise for the Manager of the Centre when they are not available.

    The Requirements

    • Registration and compliant with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Counselling Psychologist with at least 5 year’s relevant work experience over and above their internship. Individuals who have supervised interns will be at an advantage.

    Relevant experience includes: -

    • Any work with adolescents or individuals in early adulthood. The greater the diversity of this experience the better for example, experience in one-on-one counselling, group counselling and educational work.
    • Those individuals with specific experience of working with University students will also be at an advantage.

    Payroll Clerk - Makhanda

    Main Objectives

    • Ensure the smooth and efficient processing and payment of salaries on payrolls 003 and 004 and validation of data across payrolls timeously; ensure accuracy; adherence to statutory and legislative requirements, optimizing business processes, striving for operational efficiencies. Ensure that all risk is removed from the employer and employee by ensuring compliance.  Further, to ensure identification and correction of discrepancies / errors. Payroll reconciliations in compliance with existing policies and procedures thereby not exposing the University to risk

    The Requirements

    • Grade 12 (preferably with accounting as a grade 12 subject) and approximately 2 years’ relevant experience where such experience includes: 
    • Previous experience in a pressurized payroll administration environment where the number of employees are in excess of 3 500 employees on the payroll. Sage People 300 payroll experience will be a distinct advantage
    • Previous experience working with salaries and benefits on a large payroll.
    • Previous experience working at higher education will be an advantage
    • Must be able to perform reconciliations. In the absence of this experience, the individual is expected to be highly numerate, comfortable with information technology and able to learn these processes quickly once on the job.

    Associate Professor/ Professor in Ichthyology and Fisheries Science at Rhodes University

    The requirements

    The job requirements at each level are specified below:

    Associate Professor

    • At least a PhD in Fisheries Science or Aquaculture or equivalent.
    • Considerable teaching experience at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
    • Experience in teaching and research in aquaculture and fisheries science is required. Ichthyology would be beneficial.
    • Research supervision of Master’s and PhD degrees to completion required.
    • An established national and an emerging international profile in the discipline.
    • Track record of research publication and research grant acquisition.
    • Proven track record of administration, management, and leadership roles in teaching, assessment, research, and community engagement.
    • Proven track record of developing and maintaining national and international partners and collaborators.

    Professor

    • At least a PhD in Fisheries Science or Aquaculture or equivalent.
    • Extensive teaching experience at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
    • Experience in teaching and research in aquaculture and fisheries science is required. Ichthyology would be beneficial.
    • Research supervision of Master’s and PhD degrees to completion required.
    • International profile in the discipline.
    • Extensive track record of research publication and research grant acquisition.
    • Proven track record of administration, management, and leadership roles in teaching, assessment, research, and community engagement.

    Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Pharmacy

    • All academics are responsible for disseminating knowledge (teaching and learning), creating knowledge (research), and engaging in community engagement, recognizing differences in the execution of these responsibilities within academic departments and faculties.  Academics are also expected to assume some administrative, management, and/or leadership duties at the departmental, Faculty, and/or University level and contribute (s) to their profession.

    • Teaching experience in Pharmacology at the undergraduate and post-graduate levels using appropriate teaching, learning support, assessment methods and technologies is required.
    • Experience in teaching in the following disciplinary areas: Clinical Pharmacy, Pathophysiology, and Pathology will be an advantage.
    • Experience in teaching other relevant and related areas of Pharmacology will be an advantage.
    • Good research supervision of at least Masters’ and PhD degrees required. Participating in collaborative research projects would be an advantage.
    • Track record of administration, management, and/or leadership roles (leadership roles may be formal or informal).
    • National and emerging international profile in the discipline based on research outputs and ability to secure research funding.
