    Metallurgist, D1, PGS061/24GS

    The role:

    • The role is to enable the business to embed continuous improvement principles and initiatives to ensure that resources are directed effectively at the highest value projects

    Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

    • Evaluate / analyze plant processes and systems to identify improvement opportunities
    • Ensure plant laboratory systems comply with SANS
    • Measure, track and manage coal quality to ensure that the product produced is within required limits
    • Provide the processing plant with technical advice / support
    • Assist with metallurgical accounting activities
    • Assist in the implementation of critical controls to improve safety
    • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize plant processes that will enable delivery of the initiatives outlined in the business plan
    • Develop and assist the implementation of the Seriti MOS system, ensuring that best practice and commitment from all stakeholders involved is recognized
    • Planning and facilitating Reward and Recognition for BI initiatives
    • Supporting and preparation for Business Strategy Sessions
    • Prioritization of Business Improvement Initiatives
    • Develop systems that support change initiatives to be managed locally while maintaining simplicity and promoting standardization
    • Conduct yield improvement test work and investigate yield improvement opportunities
    • Manage and adhere to quality management systems
    • Application of appropriate analytical methods
    • Continuously monitor product qualities
    • Interact with marketing department for requirements
    • Regular evaluation of unit process efficiencies
    • Carries out responsibilities in terms of HSEC requirements

    Requirements:

    • BSc Met (Extractive) / BSc Chemical Engineering / Mineral Processing Honours / B-Tech Honours / B-Tech
    • 4 years’ relevant working experience in a mining environment of which at least 1 year is in a supervisory capacity at an operation (this can be cumulative acting experience)
    • Coal processing plant experience
    • In-depth knowledge of Processing
    • English Proficiency
    • Proficiency in MS Office, SAP or equivalent system
    • Valid Code B driver’s license
    • In possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness

    Advantageous:

    • Ability to use process explorer / LIMS / Minitab / SAP software

    Section Engineer, D4, KRL062/24SK

    The role:

    • The role involves the management of engineering assets, resources and infrastructure through the planning of long    and short-term availability of machinery and equipment, and the organising and management of resources to achieve planned production targets:

    Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

    • Ensure that legal requirements, codes of practices, group standards, procedures and policies are updated, implemented, adhered to and that changes to legal requirements are communicated
    • Optimise planned maintenance in support of production targets through providing technical expertise to the mining operation teams, co-ordinate planned maintenance and major overhauls / shutdowns and investigate, monitor and eliminate causes of breakdowns
    • Effective people management, ensuring that roles are well defined and clarified and that competencies and learning paths are developed to human capacity and capability
    • Effective project management of engineering projects and Asset Optimisation initiatives, ensuring best practice research, implementation and knowledge sharing
    • Financial budgeting & management
    • Effectively manage contractors and suppliers’ relationships, ensuring compliance to Seriti Coal standards

    Requirements:

    • Degree or National Diploma in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering
    • Government Certificate of Competency (GCC)
    • Completed a structured Engineering Internship program or minimum 5 years of experience as a General Engineering Supervisor and/or Engineering Foreman
    • Solid experience in managing Surface Services / Opencast sections machinery in a coal mine
    • In depth understanding of relevant safety and mining legislation including: The Mine Health and Safety Act; Minerals and Energy Acts
    • An in-depth knowledge and understanding of technical engineering aspects such as OEM’s and SABS / SANS standards
    • A good knowledge of machinery and equipment used on the relevant operations
    • Flameproofing and gas testing knowledge
    • Understanding of engineering best practices and new technologies relating to relevant engineering principles & processes
    • Understanding of Environmental standards
    • Proven technical and maintenance management capability
    • Project management and report writing skills
    • Proven supply chain management knowledge
    • Knowledge of SAP maintenance and supply chain modules
    • Computer literacy (MS Office)
    • Valid driver’s license
    • In possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness

    Advantageous:

    • Registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA)
    • Membership of any other South African Engineering Association

    Financial Controller, D4, KRL061/24GS

    The role:

    The purpose of this role is to coordinate, manage and execute financial accounting and reporting processes including period end closes, statistical and statutory reporting, transactional accounting, internal and external audit, and preparation of Annual Financial Statement.

    Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

    • Accountability for the execution of Business level financial reporting processes
    • Facilitating the development of budgets and managing the monthly forecasts
    • Knowledge of management systems like SAP, SharePoint, PowerBI, HSEC Online and Isometrix
    • Oversees the creation, interpretation and implementation of financial accounting policies
    • Manages the preparation and submission of Annual Financial Statements in compliance with applicable financial reporting standards
    • Monitors compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)  and  Accounting Interpretations
    • Accountable for the overall trial balance, including review of reconciliations
    • Manages transactional accounting and processing activities, including cash, payroll, fixed assets, debtors, creditors and revenue accounting
    • Coordinates the period end close process and short-term cash forecasting
    • Responsible for the governance and integration of all financial systems (ERP, Treasury, Marketing, Forecasting, etc.)
    • Half year and Year end statutory reporting including external briefing paper submissions and governance reviews
    • Responsible for internal and external financial reporting requirements including RAC, Board, JV and Third-Party reporting
    • Responsible for general statistical and statutory reporting requirements e.g. SARB & DMR statistical submissions
    • Coordinates governance related activities including governance reviews and internal and external audits
    • Manages external audit engagements

    Requirements:

    • Diploma/Degree in Finance
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a finance related field with at least 1 year in a supervisory capacity
    • Sound understanding of accounting policies, ERP systems, risk management, governance, budgeting & forecasting, reporting and cost control
    • Experienced in budgeting, forecasting and reporting - mining industry experience is preferred
    • Analytical skills and problem-solving skills
    • Numerate skills
    • Planning and organization skills
    • Computer literacy (MS Office suite)
    • Valid driver’s license
    • In possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness

    Advantageous:

    • Professional accreditation – CA/CIMA/ACCA
    • Prior experience in project, finance or commercial areas
