    Design Engineer: Civil Structures - JHB

    Core purpose:

    The core purpose of the job focuses on design and development of Civil Structural construction projects, such as structural engineering analysis and design for foundation, concrete and steel structures, structural and industrial/office building design, underpasses, retaining walls and other infrastructure structures. The job requires close liaison with multi-disciplinary project team members including railway infrastructure disciplines, project managers and contractors to ensure that construction projects are designed according to specifications and that they meet structural safety, reliability, and sustainability standards.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop Civil construction project specifications and designs based on customer requirements and structural engineering design standards.
    • Collaborate with rail infrastructure disciplines, architects, contractors and other construction professionals to ensure that designs are feasible and meet all client project requirements.
    • Working knowledge of computer-aided design (CAD) software and other engineering tools to create and refine construction project designs. Creating 3D models and animations using CAD and BIM software.
    • Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses to determine the viability of new designs and construction techniques.
