    Senior Manager, Credit Risk Review

    Job Description

    Credit Risk Assurance is part of the second line of defense and supports both the Africa Regions Business and Commercial Banking (BCB) CRO and any Credit Risk Executives responsible directly to that role, in providing independent oversight, qualitative assessment and reporting of Credit Risk Management practices throughout BCB.

    The role also encompasses Credit Risk Governance and Policy that entails being the custodian of all BCB Group-level credit risk policies and standards. The job ensures that such policies support and entrench the principles articulated in The Group Credit Risk Governance Standard (“The Standard”), and oversight of credit risk delegated authority policy frameworks.

    This function extends to providing counsel to Regional, Country, or Sub-segment Credit Risk Heads and their Governance Officers in respect of the formulation and review of embedded credit risk policies and delegated authority frameworks, to ensure consistency with BCB Groupwide policies, and in turn The Standard.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications

    • B.Com; B.Econ.; Accounting or related degrees (Masters in Business/ Economics/ Finance/ Banking will be an advantage)

    Experience

    • At least 5-7 years Credit Evaluation and/or Business Credit Recovery experience in Business and Commercial Banking, Personal and Private Banking or CIB environment
    • A thorough understanding of Credit Risk analysis, including product knowledge, cash flow analysis and how micro and macro-economic factors can potentially adversely affect the credit risk of a counterparty or portfolio on a forward-looking basis.
    • International and Africa Regions experience would be an advantage.

    Manager, Foreclosure

    Job Description

    To assume the oversight of all Foreclosure, operational and compliance aspects of the Foreclosure portfolio. To assist to ensure that staff are competent and adequately trained and mentored and that the correct culture and leadership qualities are maintained.

    This includes the running of Foreclosure workshops internally. To optimally, effectively and efficiently manage the Foreclosure portfolio, applying the Foreclosure process whilst at  the same time maintaining the integrity and reputation of the Bank.

    To ensure that all risks in the process are properly considered and reported  upon.To ensure adherence to all policies and procedures relating to  compliance, regulatory, operational, procedural, reputational and legal 
    risks.To review, investigate report and escalate high risk defences and 
    allegations.To take timeous action (within mandate) to protect the interests of the 
    bank.To contribute to and support the strategic goals and vision of Credit 
    Rehabilitation and Recoveries.To settle or restructure facilities (wherever possible) in consultation with operations, the debtor and the attorneys.To consult with counsel/witnesses and attend court and to testify (where required) any other action in order to facilitate the proving of the banks case.To consider, evaluate and approve/reject all settlement proposals 
    (within mandate) and to refer to higher authority (where appropriate)

    Qualifications

    • Completed Matric
    • Legal degree required (LLB preferable) 
    • Admitted Attorneys
    • Admitted Conveyancer will be beneficial

    Experience

    • 5-7 years post qualification experience
    • 5-7 years personal experience in litigation (civil)
    • 3-5 years personal experience in Foreclosure litigation
    • 3-5 years personal experience in leading/ managing a team of staff (>10) with sound people practices
    • 3-5 years personal experience in operational management
