    Research Assistant

    Duties/Pligte

    Essential Prospective Cohort Duties

    • Conducting screening and enrolling participants, explaining research procedures, obtaining informed consent, and conducting interviews with participants;
    • Coordinating specimen collection and specimen processing;
    • Performing data collection and data entry. Maintaining clear, concise, accurate, and legible records;
    • Scheduling study visits and providing reminder calls;

    Stock management;

    • May assist with preparing and maintaining regulatory records;
    • Providing assistance with other administrative tasks in support of the clinical research studies, such as handling telephone calls, scanning, filing, and photocopying;
    • Participating in staff meetings/initiatives, including appropriate quality improvement and education activities, or if unable to attend non-mandatory activities,
    • accepting responsibility to review meeting minutes and becoming knowledgeable about the issues.

    Essential Retrospective Cohort Duties

    • Abstracting clinical data through chart reviews from Afrikaans to English;
    • Performing data collection and data entry. Maintaining clear, concise, accurate, and legible records.

    Shared Cohort Duties

    • Adhering to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), as well as to protocol requirements to ensure the validity of

    clinical research subject data;

    • Adhering to legal, professional, and ethical codes with respect to confidentiality and privacy. Responsible for obtaining and maintaining all study certifications,

    including Human Subjects Certification;

    • Following the established hospital infection control and safety procedures;
    • Performing other duties as assigned or as necessary.

    Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes       

    • Some college coursework, with a focus in Health Sciences, completed;
    • Fluency in written and verbal English and Afrikaans;
    • Previous research experience, as well as a good understanding of Good Clinical Practice (GCP);
    • Must be able to work and be based in Worcester, Western Cape, from Monday to Friday;
    • Computer literacy in MS Word and Excel.

    Recommendation/Aanbeveling       

    • Bachelour's degree, with a focus in Health Sciences, will be preferable;
    • Fluency in isiXhosa or some level of isiXhosa preferred;
    • At least two letters of recommendation required, but three will be preferred.

    Senior Lecturer / Lecturer in Careers and Leadership

    Duties/Pligte

    This position will be part of the Stellenbosch Business School's academic leadership team that facilitates a range of transformative leadership development and organisational behaviour modules and events for various programmes, as well as supervising and conducting research. As head of the School's Career Leadership Programme, the role will support our endeavour to develop the careers of responsible leaders for students and alumni. The Career Leadership Programme plays a key role in initiating, developing, and supporting students' career leadership skills based on individualised and group career planning and development offerings.

    • Developing and delivering academic content in Leadership and Organisational Behaviour modules;
    • Teaching as well as assessing assignments;
    • Contributing to research through acknowledged publications and conferences;
    • Supervising postgraduate research at Master's level (and PhD level if the incumbent has a PhD);
    • Participating in the management and administration of some departmental activities;
    • Leading the Career Leadership Programme and ensuring its effective implementation and offerings to students on an individual and collective basis;
    • Supporting career-related projects at the Business School and liaising with internal and external stakeholders to create opportunities and maintain networks;
    • Managing the use of psychometric assessments and their related processes.

    Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes

    Minimum Requirements For a Lecturer

    • An appropriate Master's degree (i.e. in Psychology or Industrial Psychology) awarded by a recognised university;
    • Evidence of exposure to active scholarship, together with the potential to develop;
    • Relevant professional experience that includes a sound knowledge of recruitment, career development and the talent management industry and its processes;
    • Registration as an Industrial Psychologist;
    • Quantitative and qualitative evidence of teaching experience;
    • Excellent communication skills and sound interpersonal skills;
    • The ability to take initiative and manage projects;
    • Computer proficiency.

    Minimum Requirements For a Senior Lecturer

    • PhD degree awarded by a recognised university;
    • Professional registration as an Industrial Psychologist;
    • Evidence of active and continuous scholarship and research production;
    • Relevant professional experience that includes a high-level knowledge of recruitment, career development, and the talent management industry and processes;
    • Evidence of successfully completed postgraduate supervision and internship supervision;
    • Quantitative and qualitative evidence of relevant teaching experience and performance;
    • Excellent communication skills and sound interpersonal skills;
    • The ability to take initiative and manage projects;
    • Computer proficiency.

    Recommendation/Aanbeveling

    • PhD in the area of Leadership / Organisational Behaviour / Industrial Psychology;
    • Existing business networks;
    • Experience in the higher education sector, of MBA and other business management-related postgraduate qualifications;
    • Social media knowledge;
    • Project management knowledge and principles;
    • Facilitation experience and leadership development experience;
    • Evidence of a research and publication track record;
    • Experience in supervising postgraduate research.
    • Short-listed candidates might be required to undergo psychometric assessments.
