    Reinsurance and Sasria Administrator

    What will you do?

    • Santam Reinsurance has an exciting opportunity available in our Reinsurance department at Head Office in Cape Town to fulfil the role of Reinsurance & System Administrator.

    What will make you successful in this role?

    The purpose of the role is to understand stakeholders needs in the purchase and administration of reinsurance and Sasria. Provide relationship support, advice and training to all stakeholders.

    • Ensure total continuous aligned RI systems in support of the various Group Reinsurance Structures (PC, CC, WEB-e, AMS, JDE, BI, etc) and any internal and external Audit findings. Recommendations are to be resolved within required audit timeframes. Identify Reinsurance structures, ensuring these are secured and in place and accurate capturing of the annual renewal structure on the Group’s IT platform takes place.
    • Projects – Enhancement of business processes in line with project plans and audit feedback from internal, external and Sasria. Input on requirements, development and testing.  Operations compliant to Sasria Regulatory requirements. Authorisation of facultative placements above Reinsurance Treaty Limits. Conducting of business, relating to reinsurance and Sasria, in line with the Standard Operating Procedures.
    • Internal and External - Provide Technical coaching, advice, problem solving and skills transfer. 
    • System testing on Sasria and Reinsurance requirements.
    • Business Support with production enquiries relating to Sasria and Reinsurance Systems 

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Diploma/Qualification in IT/System/Risk Management/ Processes and good understanding of Reinsurance.
    • 2 - 5years in Insurance underwriting and on IT systems procedures
    • Commercial and Personal line experience advantageous 
    • Policy Centre
    • Word & Excel
    • Credit Control
    • Facultative Reinsurance experience
    • Treaty Reinsurance experience
    • Claims experience
    • Experience in the following areas will be advantageous
    • Short term insurance or financial services industry 
    • Experience in the use of Jira and Confluence

    Senior Accountant

    What will you do?

    • A position for a Reinsurance Financial Accountant exists in Risk Services, based in Tygerpark, Bellville.

    What will make you successful in this role?

    • To execute all financial aspects of inwards reinsurance, including the accounting of reinsurance transactions and preparing of financial reports.

    PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE: 

    • Manage accounting for all underwriting and other financial transactions relating to Santam Reinsurance in terms of International Financial Reporting Standards (“IFRS”).
    • Compilation of financial reports relating to Santam Reinsurance.
    • Manage financial accounting queries from underwriters and the rest of the business.
    • Provide accounting support and guidance to the business and rest of the Santam Re Finance team.
    • Manage and improve current procedures and controls for financial and regulatory reporting for reinsurance
    • Manage regulatory reporting for reinsurance in terms of FSB and SARB requirements. 
    • Manage ad hoc Santam Reinsurance Financial Projects.
    • Manage issues identified and drive resolution.
    • Building and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships with the various stakeholders.
    • Manage tight monthly deadlines critical to overall Group Reporting timetable.

     
    Qualifications and Experience

    • Qualified accountant (CIMA/SAIPA/CA)
    • 3-4 years’ experience in a financial role
