    Executive Head: Strategy

    Vodacom is embarking on an exciting journey to redefine its business and reinvent the face of telecoms in South Africa. This journey will include the development of new revenue streams, business models and digital innovations, including IoT, Digital Media, ICT, Financial Services, and digital/ICT applications across various industry verticals. Vodacom’s Group Strategy and Innovation team is a high-performance team that is leading this journey by providing insight, thought leadership and strategic direction to the Group.
    The Group Strategy and Innovation team is looking for an experienced strategy executive to help accelerate our ambitious growth as Executive Head of Department: Strategy (“EHOD”) – Vodacom International and Group Functions. The EHOD will work within the Group Strategy team to develop, communicate and implement the long term strategy for Vodacom Group, with a specific focus on Financial & Digital Services, International Markets (rest of sub-Saharan Africa operations) and Corporate Functions.
    The EHOD will be responsible for strategy formulation and delivery of priority strategic projects. The incumbent will play a leading role in developing group strategy, with a strong focus on Digital, ICT, new revenue streams. The EHOD will lead and deliver on special strategic projects and drive the thought leadership agenda for Vodacom group – with strong understanding of global technology and telco trends. The EHOD will need to develop a strong understanding of the global strategic priorities from Vodafone, translate them into local imperatives and communicate the implications for Vodacom.
    The role requires the EHOD to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring consistent high-quality delivery and stakeholder engagement. The incumbent is expected to have considerable interactions with EXCO and senior leaders within Vodacom and is expected to have exceptional communication skills. The EHOD must be an influential thought leader, who is able to effectively work in and lead teams to drive high-performance and effort, and lead by living the values in the Vodacom Way.

    Your Responsibilities Will Include

    The Ideal Candidate For This Role Will Have

    • Post graduate qualification in a financial/numerate discipline – MBA/CA(SA) or SAQA accredited equivalent.
    • Established, executive leader with strong strategy or business development experience at senior management level
    • Min 5 years’ senior management experience in a corporate strategy function in an established corporate
    • Min 5 years’ experience in management consulting at a leading consulting/advisory firm
    • Minimum of 5 years’ senior management experience leading and delivering new business opportunities
    • Understanding of Strategy process and best practice – including strategy development, implementation and communication
    • Understand market structures, competition dynamics and consumer behaviours
    • Working knowledge of the market, players and trends in Telecoms industry
    • Background in Management Consulting, or relevant experience in a senior corporate strategy role

    Senior Specialist: FTTX Supplier Management

    • Major focus is to improve delivery times on 3rd party networks for Vodacom orders
    • To manage end to end the supplier interactions across the full delivery chain for FTTX orders
    • Monthly target setting and trend monitoring per network provider.
    • Conduct supplier performance review meetings to ensure progress against targets and work to remove blockers.
    • Identify, summarise and report back performance and blockers to Service Delivery EHOD.
    • To ensure data integrity on all databases across which FTTX orders are delivered and monitored.
    • External supplier interactions (contractual and commercial), such as 3rd party Fibre Network Operators


    Stock Management

    • Stock control: includes Critical path creation and maintenance on Device change overs.
    • Ensuring stock levels of FTTH are monitored and maintained and that customer experience continually monitored and improved within the Service Delivery journey


    Reporting

    • Analyse all relevant data and be able to prepare the necessary presentation for key stakeholders

    Stakeholder Management

    • Represent Service Delivery in joint teams focused on improving delivery process and systems as well in new product launches or improvements.

    People Leadership

    • Ensure that effective people leadership is applied to successfully deliver against the job objectives in this role even though the staff report to other line managers/departments

    The Ideal Candidate For This Role Will Have

    • Matric essential and
    • Relevant 3 year Degree or National Diploma essential
    • T3/S4/N6 National Diploma

    Specialist : Dev Ops Engineer

    The DevOps Engineer is responsible for delivering, maintaining, and optimizing infrastructure, database, and middleware capabilities to support and enable the development and operations of appications and solutions. This role is also responsible for reviewing solution designs, understanding their impact on application/infrastructure; building and implementing infrastructure and applications, and monitoring, maintaining, and supporting the operational environments.
    In addition, the candidate in this role is responsible for providing technical expertise to team members and other technical/business areas.

    Your Responsibilities Will Include

    • Ensuring availability, performance, sustainability and accessibility of application systems/services
    • Managing and ensuring SLAs and KPIs of services are maintained
    • Ensuring necessary operational controls and governance are in place and policies to ensure alignment
    • Managing and overseeing the service transition process of services into the production environment.
    • Ensuring non-functional requirements are implemented with all features and user stories

    • Min 3 years’ experience in scripting(automation) and configuration management using tools such as Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Salt etc.
    • Min 3 years’ experience building, managing and supporting AWS-based solutions and AWS native technologies
    • Min 3 years’ experience working with programming and scripting languages, such as Ruby and Python or PHP
    • Knowledge and experience of Web services, SOAP and RESTful interfaces, and XML
    • Experience working closely with agile methodologies, such as Scrum, XP, and with teams leveraging DevOps and Continuous Delivery / Integration
