    Qualifications

    Specialist: Grp Statutory Rep & Tech Acc

    Core Description    

    • This role requires a Chartered Accountant who will be responsible for researching and analysing the financial reporting and technical aspects of accounting. The role will include supporting conclusions related to accounting for acquisitions and disposals of investments, employee benefits and share-based payment schemes, financial instruments, revenue recognition and other complex accounting transactions. The incumbent will also be responsible for co-ordinating Company monthly, semi-annual & annual statutory reporting requirements, input sheets' confirmations and loading Company TB on Hyperion Financial reporting tool.

    Job Responsibilities    
    Technical Accounting: 60% weighting
    - Provide technical accounting support for complex accounting issues, which includes, but is not limited to, Revenue, financial instruments, share based
    payment transactions, employee benefits, etc.
    - Conduct and document research of accounting transactions to conclude on the appropriate application of IFRS.
    - Preparation of the cashflow statement.
    - Monitor IASB activities to identify any potential impact of new pronouncements and prepare technical accounting policies on a bi-annual basis.
    - Assist with various special projects as needed.
    - Acknowledge and communicate promptly with business on Technical Accounting issues.
    - Research issues in order to provide business with proper accounting advice.
    - Document material technical accounting issues with minimum rework.
    - Share technical accounting developments with business.
    - Review material contracts and communicate identified issues to the Senior Specialist: Technical Accounting.
    - Prepare IFRS training material to ensure the finance team remains up to date with the latest accounting standards.

    Company statutory reporting: 30% weighting
    - Oversee the preparation of month-end financial statements in accordance with IFRS

    - Assist with the Annual and Interim audit including answer information requests from external and internal audit team.
    - Build relationships with relevant stakeholders by building and managing internal and external customer relationships
    - Obtain required information from key role players
    Monthly Company Reporting
    - Review and approve SAP journals prior to posting (Investment accounts, employee benefits accounts, Cell Captive and other disclosure journals).
    - Review and approve the creation of new accounts in HFM.
    - Review and approve uploaded disclosure journals.
    - Review and approve PPE/IA grid.
    - Review and approve SAP versus HFM report.
    Prepare the Cash Flow Statement and submit to Senior Specialist for Interim and Year End Company Reporting
    - Conduct monthly reporting duties.
    - Assist with clearing audit queries.
    - Ad hoc duties as and when required.
    - Develop group financial accounting policies in compliance with IFRS
    - Review financial statements for compliance with IFRS.
    - Complete IFRS disclosure checklist for interim and year end periods.
    People Leadership: 10% weighting
    - Provide coaching and relevant training to Trainee Accountants
    - Review tasks performed by junior staff and provide assistance
    Required Certification    
    Registration with the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) preferable
    Qualifications    
    Chartered Accountant (CA SA) (NQF level 8)
    Experience    
    At least 3 years post-article experience, 2 of which must be in a statutory reporting or technical accounting role. Expertise in IFRS,
    especially in the application of the new accounting standards, and accounting for cash flows, acquisitions, disposals, and equity
    accounting.
    Special Requirements    

    • SAP and Hyperion experience
    • Knowledge of IFRS and statutory reporting
    • Experience with accounting in accordance with IFRS.
    • Experience researching and documenting accounting treatments for various transactions, including complex accounting concepts.
    • Ability to deal tactfully and confidently with internal and external customers.
    • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects with competing priorities and tight deadlines.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills/ ability to continually prioritize workload and respond to top priorities with a sense of urgency.
