    Senior Analyst - Issuers And Intermediaries Department - Pretoria

    Purpose of the Job

    • The Issuers and intermediaries Department of the FSCA is responsible for licencing and supervising OTC derivative providers who as a regular feature of their business originate OTC derivatives or make a market in OTC derivatives. The person appointed to this position will be stationed in the Market Integrity and Supervision Division and will report to the Senior Manager: OTC Markets, Issuers and counterparties.

    Key Performance Areas

    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
    • Understand and apply provisions and conditions of the legislative framework;
    • Ability to apply risk assessment and risk management techniques
    • Plan and execute on-site reviews wit professionalism and to required technical standards;
    • Assist with the monitoring of compliance with the provisions of the Financial Markets Act and subordinate legislation;
    • Assist to plan and conduct on-site visits and inspections;
    • Liaise with and render appropriate regulatory guidance to stakeholders after consultation with the Specialist Analyst and the Manager;
    • Conduct investigations regarding unregistered OTC Derivative Providers and ensure that all relevant complaints are dealt with; and
    • Be able to deal with constructive criticism and be willing to learn on the job.

    Requirements

    • A Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Finance or Mathematics with 3 to 5 years of experience in the financial sector and/or the regulatory environment within the financial services industry. The candidate must also demonstrate an understanding of financial markets, financial instruments, and the mechanics of OTC derivatives instruments. Good knowledge of financial analysis and risk management is essential.

    Project Manager - Pretoria

    Purpose of the Job: 

    • To lead, oversee and ensure the successful delivery and management of single or multiple projects within scope, and specified constraints of time and cost to deliver business value. The person appointed will report to the Departmental Head: Project Management office (PMO).

    Key Performance Areas:

    • Direct and coordinate activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses is on schedule and within scope and budget;
    • Review status reports prepared by project personnel, and modify schedules and plans as required;
    • Plan team resource needs; allocate, supervise and review work;
    • Prepare project status reports, and keep management, clients and others informed of project status and related issues; 
    • Ensure budget requirements for projects are identified and submitted on time;
    • Work closely with business-units and ICT to understand and prioritise business goals and information needs; 
    • Ensure the project governance is always adhered to for all projects

    Requirements

    • A Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, information systems, business administration, or a related discipline with an information technology focus and a Project Management certification.
    • Demonstrated experience in leading diverse teams, experience with one or more project management methodologies (e.g. PMI, PMBOK, PRINCE2 and Agile).
    • The candidate must have a minimum of 5 - 8 years demonstrated project management experience encompassing the execution of complex or multiple systems development projects with 5 years of progressive broad-based information systems and business experience; digital platforms, experience in software and infrastructure engineering involving development and testing of applications.
